I haven’t watched the menopause shows and so know nothing about metabolic gold.

Since my last post I’ve now lost just under 4 and a half stone in just over a year, simply by eating a healthy diet and by no longer eating chocolate, cakes and crisps etc., which I actually don’t miss. I’d rather do it that way in preference to taking anything or having weight loss jabs. I’ve done it to be healthier and I certainly feel better.

On a discussion show they had one woman who admitted that she was having the injections, although she wasn’t diabetic, and she was losing weight. She also added that she’ll probably be on them for the rest of her life because she knows that if she stops then the weight will go back on. I really don’t understand why people resort to this, especially when those who genuinely need the medication or injections find that there’s a shortage of them.

Well done!

Slow and steady always better, plus you've done it by will power / making changes.

Problem is with taking jabs/pills it might remove the weight, but you stop taking it and back the weight will come, because chances are you have not made changes necessary to keep it off long-term.

Well done Toril on loosing the weight and by doing it sensibly, eating a healthy diet.I try to keep my weight in check apart from the odd slip up but overall I eat a good diet. The injections are for those who seriously need to loose for health reasons not as a quick fix.Anyone who buys these from the Internet in my opinion are playing Russian Roulette with their health.
Changing habits and attitude although difficult at first IMO is the only way.

they have been selling metabolic gold on QVC - Ive been taking it since July and along with following the weightwatchers diet, I have lost 3.5 stone.
Wow I'm really pleased for you. I started taking metabolic gold 4\5 months ago it did nothing for me I finished my last bottle over a week ago and won't be reordering. Glad it worked for you just wish I had,had the same experience.

'metabolic gold' is magic beans - it's going to do literally nothing for the overwhelming majority of people who take it. It takes advantage of people's lack of knowledge about medicine and nutrition, wraps it up in a 'wellness' package, plays on some worries about 'tiredness' or other vague, non-specific 'symptoms' and claims to provide a 'solution'.

What it will do is make very expensive urine.

On the diabetic drug weight loss thing. I was advised and prescribed by my cardiologist to take Forxiga diabetic tablets as they are proven to help heart failure (I'm not diabetic). With absolutely no trying from me - eating the same (although I'm not a cake/biscuit/fatty food/fast food eater), drinking the same, I have lost 10lb since December. My size 10 jeans are flapping around my bum but no change to my stomach or bustline. You can't decide how much weight you lose or where you lose it from. It is a little alarming to be honest as I've got skinny legs and hips but bigger top half and it looks a bit odd. I honestly would not mess about with these drugs if you don't have to take them. Supplements may or may not do anything but they are surely safer to take?

I will stick my neck out and say it is more likely the Weight watchers diet doing the real work.
Of course some people have a medically-diagnosed condition requiring medication.
But otherwise anybody taking these slimming wonder drugs/supplements is not being honest with themselves.
Eating too much causes weight gain. We are all responsible for what we put into our own mouths.

Just utterly selfish imo people who need these drugs for diabetes etc just can't get them.
I blame all social media for this self important "influencers" etc.

Similar thing has happened to my husband. He was prescribed Jardiance diabetic tablets in September 2023, he isn’t diabetic but like yourself he was prescribed it by a cardiologist. In the last 16 months since starting it he has lost about 1 and a half stone, despite not being really overweight. It’s quite scary how these medications work as you say you have no control over where the weight is coming from and initially it came off quite quickly which worried me, but at the moment his weight has stabilised over the last 3 or 4 months.

Totally agree "FamousGrouse". People should not buy these so called slimming drugs on the internet. There's 10 pages of information in the Forxiga packet for a reason I would assume (and yes i have read them).

I take these tablets due to heart failure I'm embarrassed to say I have never read the leaflet. I know I should but...... I now feel the need to read the leaflet.....I have to say I have not lost any weight!!!! If only I could. May I ask what stage you are at? Do they keep you up-to-date on how your heart is doing. I've never been told. I did have a ablation to help with the AF. Then I needed a pacemaker Doesn't stop the AF but speed it down a bit. I ask because I feel the need to ask my cardiologist where I'm at as the last few months have not been so good. I apologise for boring you but for me it's good to find someone else with this issue.

Hi Rubia, I've had cardiomyopathy for over 20 years (supposed to be dead actually but hey, only the good die young ). I had a new doctor in November and he prescribed the Forxiga tablets and I'm still alive and lost all the weight. I only have to see the doc once a year. If you've heart failure you should be getting a ECG and an ultrasound once a year and an MRI scan if they are worried. I don't need a pacemaker and if you have one you just need to make a stand with any questions you have. Don't let the hospital fob you off - it's your heart and ultimately your life. Feel free to ask me anything.

I will and thank you so much. I can't have a MRI because of the pacemaker. I will speak to the pacemaker team when my next exam is due. Not sure if they are the right people to ask but I no longer see my cardiologist or heart team nurses however I do think I need to speak to someone. My doctor is great but she can only answer so many questions so I've stopped asking. Right now in my surgery I get the feeling they are all in awe of the consultants and they really appear to tread carefully around them in case of the backlash. I don't only have heart issues ( I'm so very lucky) so am under a few consultants but it's always feels the same they daren't push anything too hard in case they are stamped on. Weird situation. Once again thank you so much. Take care

Sometimes you have to make a fuss though. After Covid I didn't see any doctor and it was only because I stamped my feet that it got sorted out. Don't be scared to ask the difficult questions either and if you don't like your consultant then ask for another. Yes, you'll possibly be marked as "difficult" but you need to get a doctor who's on the same page as you. I've got lucky as I've now got one (thank goodness) who I can have a laugh with and I can talk to him about the good and the bad. You take care too Rubia.

I was prescribed Jardiance and I have no idea if I have lost weight? Don't own scales and leave it to when I have to go get my bloods done to get weighted. I will say they give me the runs big time every few weeks, so I have to take something to make it stop. I buy the cheap tablets over the counter and keep a packet ready.
