If I want ice cream, I make it in the Ninja food processor that I bought from QVC when Ninja first came to QVC. From memory it was a TSV. Yoghurt plus frozen fruit and it takes seconds. The bonus is that I’m not tied down to only making one thing in the machine.

Hi do you use a plain yogurt or the flavour of the fruit you are using? I don’t eat yogurt so it’s a bit of an unknown for me but definitely want to try this, I have a Vitamix so it should work? Thx

When I made it last year I used Activia fruit flavoured yoghurt (strawberry) and added the fruit straight from the freezer. I haven’t used plain yoghurt because I don’t buy it but it should work as well. This year I’m going to try using Easyio yoghurt. I usually have some in the fridge so will spoon some out of there.

I don’t know whether a Vitamix will work but I’m guessing that it should do if it can tolerate frozen fruit. The Ninja can cope with ice cubes so the fruit has never been an issue.

Hopefully someone who has a Vitamix can tell you whether it could be used for this.

I've gone for it as I eat loads of ice cream and I like the idea that each time I want some it is freshly churned.

And the only thing that needs washing each time is the lid, and I will lick that off :)

With 5 pots I can have that many varieties on the go, as I often get fed up by the time I've finished a 2L tub. Also I fancy just making a sorbet with a tin of pineapple chunks and similar. And making ginger ice cream with custard and crystallised ginger.

But LOADS of problems trying to order on-line, kept getting the "OOPS something went wrong , contact CS" message.

So I did, but of course they were closed (I think they used to be open 24 hours).

Ordered on Qcut for the first time ever, that was OK, then tried to cancel my online order, then kept getting - - -

Hmm, something went wrong

Last month, the website decided to throw a major hissy fit. You got the item into your basket but would not go throw the OOPS message, tried a few times without result. Then went to QCut, I have used it many times over the years and got the message sorry there is a problem phone customer care. Seems both the website and QCut had technical problems.

I think if you're gonna buy a "one trick pony" gadget like this one, you need to be sure you'll use it regularly enough to justify the room it takes up. I love a gadget and I love ice cream but I know I'm far too lazy to make sure I've got all the ingredients in and experiment with flavours and then hoick it out of the cupboard when I want to churn or re-churn. I love a kitchen gadget but it needs to be something I'd use regularly enough to justify it's existence. My favourites are my magic bullet (the original, none of your fancy Ninja stuff) an electric citrus juicer, sodastream and last but not least my popcorn maker, no fuss no faff, no fancy ingredients required and my rotisserie which lives in the cupboard upstairs 'cause it's really bulky, but it's only used occasionally so not too much of a problem

I have had this maker for nearly a year now and without going into too much detail, theres a knack to getting it right, otherwise it scratches the inside of the pots. Once you've mastered it, its fine, basically make sure your frozen food is flat before you blend, scrape it flat if needs be. There is info out there on the net about this problem, three containers wrecked later -lesson learnt. I don't like ice cream that much but my son uses it the most and it can easily become a cupboard filler if not frequently used.
