Akimbo, take a look at this person's twitter feed (exactly the same name as the first-time Q reviewer)

https://twitter.com/jameslbeauty

If that ain't evidence that there's a mutually beneficial relationship between bloggers, brands and Q, then I'll eat all my Yankee Candles!!!

:mysmilie_15: I think it's fair to say he/she loves Jay Maunual. :mysmilie_15: someone should tell the poor disillusioned fool that there's something a tad creepy and obsessive about his/hers Twitter, and boring! good grief, I only read a few tweets and found myself glaze over, then started counting the blades of grass growing in the garden. :mysmilie_15:

Call me sexist but I daresay the vast majority of QVC customers are female, above the age of 35-40 and who buy into their beauty tsv`s on a regular basis. As photo finished as Jay was and much as he himself obviously used the stuff, why are we seeing so many reviews/blogs/photos from males who look like trainee drag Queens without their wigs ?

I fully respect these men's right to look and live as they wish - they are harming nobody after all - but, as a likely "typical" QVC customer such as you describe, I can't say I identify with them in any way so their product reviews mean nothing to me. Then again, for reasons discussed throughout this thread, I don't take a lot of notice of the beauty bloggers who do have more in common with me either. Their reviews are laughable. I am only really interested in the views of people I know stand to gain nothing by recommending a product - so that's friends and people on here. Keep posting your unbiased and realistic comments and reviews please - they are invaluable. I would friend, follow or tweet you if I knew what that meant.

Think Q's gotta take it where they can get it!!!

Well said! I laugh at many of these reviews & posts too. I listen to friends & family who are honest. How do they find time to constantly post, blag on all these social media platforms?...?

This has been such an entertaining thread to read, so thank you. I have had a good laugh. Talk about the emperors new clothing. All beauty ranges rely on a bit of hype but this range seems to take it to another level, and there are now quite a few 1 and 2 star reviews on QVC.

As for beauty bloggers, many get free products, and the ones with a big fan base in terms of subscribers, are invited to all expenses paid product launches in sunny climes and receive sizeable payments for mentioning products. The government has now made it law for bloggers to mention when they got .a product for free or are being paid to promote it, but I wonder how many of them really do. Recently some full time YouTube bloggers have brought properties in London and at today's prices, that gives an idea of how well they are doing for themselves. I used to be subscribed to a few, but got heartily sick of their brand of vanity and self promotion while just pretending to be your trustworthy mate or the girl next door. Although there are some genuine bloggers out there and some who focus on ethical beauty and minimalism, many seem to be on an orgy of accumulating with drawers and drawers full of make up. I would readily trust reviews on this forum before I believed a beauty blogger or reviews on QVC.

I noticed on Amazon some reviews were clearly stated that the person had been given a free sample to try .I have never seen that before.

I've noticed this on Amazon and it seems to be with a lot of different things - from make-up to smart watches. Do you think I've got any chance of getting a new laptop? No, thought not.

There would be more credibility on reviews on eshopping if all of them included flags to indicate verified purchaser / free sample provided / free full-size provided etc. Anyone with a bit of integrity or decency would be honest about whether or not the item was purchased or given in return for a review for anything they review.

I wouldn't dream of reviewing a product I hadn't used, and I think it's an area that needs to be tightened up considerably, as it's vulnerable to abuse: as we have all noted in this case!

I couldn't review anything that I had never tried and tested. Should be looked at from all areas, agree totally! :mysmilie_7:

The British Beauty Blogger has a piece about the brand coming to QVC. That set does not interest me.

I'm the same; nothing about it interests me, especially the expansive range of foundation colours - it's hard enough picking from 5/6 shades when buying from the telly, but 12 is just too much. Much easier to go into a store and swatch for myself.

I'm not getting sucked into this range. I'm not even going to entertain any of the shows.

Has anyone checked the reviews for this much-hyped TSV recently????

119 reviews, 61 of which are 1 star - ouch!!!

I just popped over to read them after your post, but so many I do not have time to read them all. Not good though, really. They do mostly seem to think that the colour is a good match but lots of criticism about the coverage, the applicator for the highlighter or whatever it is, the vast amount of glitter in that product (so do not go there, maymorganlondon!!!!) and general condemnation of the lipgloss, gloopy and the gold roundly slated. One person said she looked like an extra from a sci fi movie. Also, people saying about the hype from presenters and the mad lighting which meant, of course, people did not get the same result.

The only really glowing reviews for all the products are from the brown nose bloggers on Facebook. the breathless, Oh its wonderful!!!!!! When you know they got it free. QVC if they had any creditably would make bloggers state in the review they got it free.

All this faux gushing does nothing for the brands they're over-hyping as it just results in a lot of peed off consumers as well as returns for Q.

I have no doubt Mr Manuel takes his products very seriously, but not taking into account the general audience for such products at Q UK and the blatant disinformation surrounding the products was a mistake which will harm his profitability and Q's.

It just seems so stupid to not do your homework and present your products accordingly.

That sci-fi movie comment made me laugh - just had visions of lots of 'Mr Data's' knocking around after applying the TSV!

That's just awful if true! :mysmilie_12:

I believe there was an episode of TNG called A Fistful of Datas. I now have a mental image of loads of women wandering around together looking like, well, a fistful of Datas.
