Hattie leaving

Can you imagine if they poached Mike Mason from Ideal World to fill the presenter gap they'll have once Hattie goes?

"Awight guvnor. Now, coming up later, we've got some amazing Primal Living joint supplements. These, ladies and gents, will help your plates of meat get up your apples and pears in no time. My wife slash goddess swears by 'em".

Hattie has claimed on-air that Lepidolite is a type of Amethyst.

How on earth to they get their qualifications to get their letters after their name?

Lepidolite is a type of Mica. Amethyst is a type of Quartz.
Even I know that! All of them give inaccurate information, so I am very intrigued about GIA's qualifications. The other day Emily said that "all lapis lazuli is dyed, that's just standard". Has she forgotten that lapis has been used as a pigment for thousands of years?

That'll be Emily's spiel from the 'Gemporia guide on how to bulls**t customers' book (I may or may not have made up the name of this book).

Emily is another that chats complete crap.

Of course it is. Everyone know that. But seriously, you do not need a degree of any sort in the 'earth' and its produce to know they look NOTHING alike.

And not 'all' lapis is dyed, it just seems to be increasingly so, coz they are trying to make the 'dregs' look better than they are. And I like Lapis ;)

Exactly that - Emily is using this gaslighting technique a lot more.

Sometimes she adds phrasing such as "we know, as Collectors, black is white. It's expected, right? This Lorique, SI grade RAAC concrete is rarer and has an estimated retail value of £800. I'm already at a fantastic deal of £799 but what if I could tell you that this is a yellow ticket item and it can be yours, with a 3-way Split Pay of just £79.99".

What annoys me with Emily is the way she says "We, as collectors" or "We, as gem professionals", spoken as though she's in a position of expertise or knowledge, before talking complete nonsense.

I find her one of the most patronising presenters amongst the Gemporia bunch.

AAA grade Blue Circle Cement 18k Gold Earrings

Sounds marvellous!
Absolutely.
I used to work for Blue Circle Cement. Just think I could’ve made a fortune making cement jewellery🤣🤣🤣
If my memory of concrete is correct, it gets stronger over its lifetime. If so, maybe Gems 'should' make jewellery with it. They wouldn't need their 6 month guarantee then, would they? :p

You could have been on standing alongside Dave Troth as a guest, telling us about the healing properties of Concrete, and how its worth 10,000 per gram.

If only you'd have bought one of Lynn Kink's Rock Crystal Balls - you'd have known this.

You could have been a millionaire now.

How spooky is this. I post about concrete and when scrolling YouTube. I see a video from 4 days ago called, "Why isn't Roman concrete used today?" I suppose, as it is the Halloween month..... :p

Unfortunately cement is only one component of concrete. Still I suppose if it’s mixed with resin or another compound it could be gold, silver or platinum plated to make it more expensive. For a cheaper range gold or silver tone🤣🤣.

I can picture it. Cement mixed, instead of with sand, balast and water. The sand can be replaced with the metal (of your choice) shavings, heated into balls to make it more sand like, and the balast can be 'natural' gemstones and the water has to be gathered from the finest Dubai-based mirage of a sparkling (not still) water. That way, you get the metal flecks setting off the gemstones. Plus, the cement has to be coloured to differentiate between platinum etc.

Fissure-filled concrete. I wonder if it could be dyed too?
