Are pieces worth the prices

I wrote in to the producer during a recent show to ask to see the damn ring on a presenters hand. They were just looping the pre record while the presenter was sitting there wearing it. The cameras are capable of zooming right in but they rarely do, or they zoom in and it’s not in focus!? Wtf?
And you got a reply, I'm sure? Don't waste your time!

You know, saying that, I put the telly on earlier than usual today and saw Angeline actually call it green indicolite. NOT green tourmaline, or chrome etc.
They claim to be GIA accredited - and then they come out with contradicting nonsense like that.

Here's a real life consequence of the absolute nonsense spouted by Gemporia these days (images from an active eBay listing - main photo & listing detail). Once upon a time, Gems TV sold blue kyanite as just that.

Mentioned lots of times on this forum, the constant proximate use of the words "nilamani" and "sapphire" by all Gemporia presenters when selling blue kyanite has made its mark on this eBay seller. I'm not suggesting that TGGC is responsible for the eBay listing but I am saying that they are responsible for the eBay Seller declaring the main stone as a sapphire, describing it as "sapphire" twice, with no mention of the word "kyanite" anywhere - even, of course, on the Gemporia certificate which is displayed in the listing.

I would be utterly disappointed if I bought this thinking it was a sapphire and I got a kyanite! The price difference between the two is huge although admittedly the current price is more in keeping with kyanite.

More alarming than the price is the hardness. Someone would think they're getting a stone that is hard and durable - but in reality, they're getting a stone that is soft and delicate.

A sapphire is 9 on the Mohs scale. Kyanite is 4.5

If it's not too late, someone should message the seller and tell them it's not sapphire. OR message Gemporia and tell them that someone is selling kyanite 'as' sapphire: false advertising by proxy: aka the seller was duped by Gems.

The ebay seller obviously believes the stone is a sapphire.
However, that doesn't look like the original certificate of authenticity. 🤔

It looks like the page on eBay where you fill in all the information - and then it displays as a chart on the listing.

Is that what it is Andy - or are they actually claiming that's a CoA?

Correct. Image 2 is the eBay listing detail, which the Seller filled in - so deliberate selection. The photos on the listing though include one with the actual Gemporia certificate, from November 2021, which declares the gemstone as "Nilamani" and not "Kyanite" either.
