In my busy shop I see a lot of fat adults who are munching Greggs sausage rolls (330 calories) or clutching a huge Mc Donalds milk shake (800 calories) sadly so are their obese children.
I know that many of them are on long term sickness benefits because of their obesity but while benefits give them more disposable income than if they were working a minimum wage job there is no incentive to change their lifestyle.
If they are offered weight loss medication will they accept it if it means that they will lose their excuse for not working, and if they do accept it how many will require tummy tucks to get rid of loose skin caused by rapid weight loss.
What ever happens it is going to cost the NHS a lot of money to treat a preventable condition.
It is the ultra-processed food, they are cheap and addictive, hence the appeal of Greggs and the other fast food outlets. But, also I laugh at the ads for Iceland how cheap the food is, yes because it is all ultra-processed. What, you believe the TV ads meals for £1 are really good for you

Think she was on verge of being diabetic. Know she had some health issues along with other things and was taking lot of supplements and started to exercise coupled with changing her diet. She had discount code from company she was using
I remember her saying on air one Easter that she had eaten six Cadbury's creme eggs. Just the thought of that makes my teeth throb.

Sadly I think you are correct on the amount it will cost the NHS/Taxpayer one way or another.

Can't recall which channel/program it was but there was one in the past few weeks that was focused on why so many people of working age are claiming sickness benefits.

Interesting program, never realised the manufacturers put so much time and effort in to make the products irresistible.

I am guilty of eating ultra-processed foods, but try to keep it to moderate levels. For me its convenient with living alone and working sometimes long hours without a real break.
