Careful, now, you'll have her eye out....

Stiletto nails make me think of Rita Repulsa - the wicked lady in Power Rangers - especially these ones: I'm sure she started the trend!!

Do you remember your "first time"?

I joined in early 2009 after reading loads of comments on Rocks tv's chat about this st.com! I looked you up, found you and joined! It was quite a while before I posted and then I think it was a get well message to someone I 'knew' from Rocks. It was a while before I plucked up the courage to...

    Christmas Dinner

It's always the traditional turkey and trimmings for our Christmas dinner - wouldn't be Christmas dinner if we had anything else! I have cooked the same thing since our first Christmas together (1983) with only the veg changing slightly! When it was just the 2 of us I used to cook the biggest...

please stop telling us how to split up sets into gifts

We nearly always buy a present for the house - a new rug, a Blu ray player, a PS3, Trivial Pursuit etc - it's how we justify buying those things that you can't give to one person but we would like to have!!

    Emma Hardie Face Cloth

Some microfibre cloths do feel quite harsh so I wouldn't risk those on my face but the Tesco value ones are really soft and I don't have a problem with them. I can't use facial scrub products - the kind that have granules/bits in - they do major damage to my skin (a body scrub brought me out in...

    Emma Hardie Face Cloth

I use Tesco Value microfibre cloths (from the household cleaner aisle) as my face cloths - 5 for £1-50! I have very sensitive skin but they are fine for me. After a few washes, when they start to get a bit less white, they get relegated to their original purpose - house cleaning cloths!!

    Practical Presents

My husband is very good at buying presents - I have had some beautiful jewellery, some very nice handbags and some lovely lingerie over the years. I have also had pans, a casserole dish, a wok, knives, a kettle, tool set etc etc. Much as I love the jewellery and stuff it is the practical...

    Exploding Yankee tart burners

I have one of the tart burners with a lid which massively cuts down the residue on the wall but doesn't seem to dim the scent. I can pop the wax out without freezing it too - I push down on one edge with a lolly stick or something similar and it dislodges quite easily.

    NN and Cloakrooms

Have always called the downstairs toilet 'the cloakroom' (and I have 'washbasins' too)!! I hang up wet coats and macs and keep outdoor shoes and boots in there. I also have matching towels (NOT NN) and nice soaps (yes, L'occitane), flowers on the shelf, pictures on the walls etc because it will...

Plastic Peony flowers as a gift.

I love fresh flowers but have fake ones too - plastic, fabric, whatever. Had an artificial bouquet as well which, like loujareth, I still have 26 years on. The only problem I have with artificial flowers is that they need dusting and that's something I'm not very good at!!!

    Practical Presents

I like practical presents - I've told my husband I would like a steam generator iron for Christmas! In the past I have had a socket set for Valentine's (genuinely pleased) and a Black and Decker Quattro for birthday - again, well chuffed. Also had sewing machine, die cutter, pans, a kettle and...

How did you discover this forum?

Honestly can't remember but I was almost certainly Googling something! I seem to remember I joined fairly quickly but lurked for a long time before plucking up the courage to comment! I'm glad I found it - it's funny, informative, infuriating and a great way to pass an awful lot of time...

    What have you bought lately?

I think the last thing I bought was the set of 5 LED torches, about November, for stocking fillers - really useful little torches! Can't say that anything has made me even close to buying since then - mind you, I haven't watched that much!

19 years on.. older and better??

I wasn't watching on day one but I came in fairly soon after I think. It was quite a while before I bought anything though - my first purchase was a Kirk's Folly key chain which I still have!! It always seemed to be jewellery showing back in the early days. I used to like the Doll shows with...

    QVC's Cringiest Products!

There I was feeling all virtuous 'cos I have never bought anything useless from QVC and you had to remind me about this!! Yes, I confess - it's buried in the garage somewhere having never even been opened!

    Lulu G and spelling

It always amazes me when these errors end up on products. It's extremely prevalent in the craft world - eg 'your special' which always has me screaming 'my special what???'. So much for Quality Control - at QVC (or IW) as well as the manufacturer. Maybe they think most people won't notice...

I'm so sick of all this American stuff

Well, I AM a lady of a certain age and I am also somewhat larger than I would like to be.............I also have a wardrobe overflowing with Kim & Co, I love it. BUT, I adore Joe Browns clothes and Fat Face, have quite a bit from Next too and the odd designer piece (cast off from sister!) and...
