Maybe you and me should go to dinner minim and i can bring Hopey and you bring Meg and we can have a foursome,

better company IMO

Oh Barbs (

I've only received a couple of text messages as himself is away but will be home in time for dinner. However I have got my Valentines gift from "the boys" ... Alfie and Harvey ... and they bought me a Bibi bracelet. I suspect himself may have bought it. It's a bead bracelet with two heart charms, a Bibi coin and a crystal. The crystal really is beautiful. It's very heavy and it does look like silver. It's lovely but it'll have been ****** expensive for what it is. Will be interesting to see how it wears over time.

It is quite a heavy chunky piece and I honestly wouldn't want to wear them stacked up as the Bibi bird suggests. They'd be too heavy.

Hopefully he will be home on time. Dinner is booked for 7.15.

Ah what a kind thoughtful OH you have Tink. Hope you have a lovely time tonight.

I have a few of the Bibi bracelets, and they do wear well, and look lovely. I love the tinkle of them, but one is enough to wear.

Hopey bought me nothing, but i've got an awful hoarse cough and cold all week and have been working so probably feeling
sorry for myself. I.m babysitting for my DD friend tonight, so she can go out a while, so looking forward to that, and then
Minim and me and the girls (cats) are going for dinner, so i'm more than happy, unless minim turns me down

Well as the forum's very own Bridget Jones its dinner for one tonight. Altogether now " aah "
Tinks, what a lovely present enjoy it!!
Sparkly , I hope you feel better soon. Men!!!

To everyone whether being spoilt rotten, neglected , or still searching. Have a good day.

I feel a but guilty sometimes as my OH is more "romantik" than I am. I do remember birthdays and valentines but he remembers things like the anniversary of the day we met. I haven't a clue! I think it was March sometime. Also I'm devilled if I can remember how long we've been together but he can.

He's good looking too and younger than me. I am suitably grateful ... lol

Yes I agree LEL ... hope everyone has a nice day whatever their relationship status. It's beautifully sunny here which always helps the day go well.

Barbs ... ooo good to hear the bracelets wear well. I had visions of having brass balls before Christmas!!

well ditto to everything LE Lover said
i didn't expect anything from anyone today and was quite right about that :smirk:

also on my tod tonight, but going out again tonight to next in series of Edinburgh comedy show previews in a little theatre locally, as most of the week, so my heckling (call it latent ADHD ) might involve a slightly wistful (but not bitter) ah-well-another-valentine-with-no-cards-flowers-or-nookie theme to it tonight

and lots of love to all who enjoy their valentine's day and gifts and surprises and romance
and lots of love to those who will breathe a sigh of relief when its all over and done with for another year x

Well nowt, nothing here for me. My OH doesn't do Valentine's Day. I have previously moaned and pointed it out, but this
year i decided to say nothing so it has passed us by. Romance is dead here :(
Snap.
A romantic gesture in his world is to change the oil in my car lol

Now that sounds good!
I'll join you later as we have to leave the house for 21 & love of her life.

Well OH and I had our annual pre-Valentines convo at the start of the week, always goes something like this:

OH: [with totally unmoved facial expression] Are we doing owt for Valentines then?
Me: Big bog all as per usual I expect...

:giggle:

...except this year one of her students came into her lecture and asked to make an announcement, he was selling wooden roses for the British Heart Foundation so she bought one and presented it to me last night. Apparently she told her student that I'd now suspect her of having an affair! We're not terribly romantic. Everybody who was present recalls what we said to each other at our Civil Partnership ceremony, instead of vows we'd written ourselves to express our love and commitment, I said to her "sign here, I want your pension..."

Right see you and Meg later then. I'm going to try and catch Hopey and give her a brush for our date later,

so she's nice and fluffed up looking, and she's got a red name tag, so it'll be good for valentines day lol

sort of valentine related, as on Radio 4, a series of Love poem programmes by Carol Anne Duffy
now try as i might, i just can't warm to her, i just don't like her speaking voice, i have been examining if my inner bitch has anything to do with it
i am trying to put my finger on it, it feels all a bit too worthy and sort of precious and condescending to me, and i just can't get past her voice

don't get me wrong i thought it was great to have a woman poet laureate for a change in principle
and hence feel a bit guilty that i don't like her

but then again, in principle it seemed like progress/a good idea to have a woman prime minister
but i don't feel i have to apologise for not loving Thatcher :whew:

Just realised that it is 14th February. So I didn't get anything but I've never been one for the romantic gestures. Would have loved a bibi bracelet though.

Well, apart from Barbs and Minim, it's good to know romance is still alive and well out there!

There's no partner in my life, I just make the most of any excuse to have a chocolate treat and a glass of wine. It's Mothers Day soon and I don't have any kids either lol!

Happy birthday for next week Akimbo, make it a good one! :glass:

Haven't managed to catch her yet, had to move her off the flannel bedding to change it and she wasn't amused.

Don't forget a bit of red on ....... somewhere lol

Oh I can't wear red. I look bliddy awful in red. Actually I have got red jewellery and a red bag. I was thinking of wearing grey and black so red would go with that.

Might even take my own advice and tidy myself up, as i look a mess here. Reading these posts i realise i should make more of an effort.

Sometimes when you live together its easy to take things for granted, and i realised that when reading posts about nails, lovely shoes,
and clothes. I've turned into a bit of a slob, lounging when of work, as i'm always so tired, so i need to buck my ideas up i think, and
now is the time to start, never mind the cough and voice, my voice is so husky one of the girls in work said i should do those 0800
numbers as my voice was suited for that lol. So everyone have a good night and i'm not jealous , even a bit, :envy:

I'm the same. I can't wear red. I've not even got any red shoes or a red bag. I did get a dozen red roses today though.

Oh ......... and I blush, so does that count as wearing red?

Well he's going to have to drive straight to the restaurant as he's up north somewhere and his set nav is saying he won't get there until 7.40. Table is booked for 7.15. Oh well. I'll get there on time but I'm not going in and looking like I've been stood up lol.

We don't live together Barbs and although some people think its funny it works for us. And there is something to be said for being able to choose to be together. We both have to make the effort. He works away a lot so that makes a difference too.

He does go in for more gestures than I do. But we are happy in our slightly unconventional way.

Barbs, is your OH my husbands long lost twin brother?!! Never had a valentine card or present, he says its too commercialised. You say to yourself, he's right, it doesn't matter, but sometimes you think it would be nice. Mind you, there is no money here for a bunch of daisies since I lost my job, so its all irrelevant anyway.

The meal out with the kitties sounds good, If I lived nearer and borrowed a cat for the evening, I would join the fun!
