I had a nosey and watched her show us all the cocktails. ****star Martini, Stawberry Daiquiri, Pina Colada etc. She got to the last one - a Mojito - and called it an Emoji! Tickled me. I’ve said before that as long as she can afford it, that’s fine, but I do think she has a problem and probably enjoys buying stuff rather than actually using it.
I just saw this - I didn't realise it was there 'cause for some reason it appeared under some of her older ones. At least the cocktails were a decent strength (apart from the alcohol free one of course) and I guess worth getting if you don't possess a cocktail shaker and any suitable glassware, but discounting the alcohol free one (worth less than £2 imo) and the can of Emoji (3.50?) the rest of the drinks work out over £5 each. Though I wouldn't mind trying them I'd rather seek out a more cost effective option and choose my own flavours. I'm guessing it's not about the cost it's about the convenience, but why pay extra money to get a plastic cocktail shaker with advertising on the front? It's the sort of promotional thing these companies give away for nothing - eg buy 4 get a free shaker. I'm not knocking it just because Hyacinth bought it, tbh it's a refreshing change to see her receiving something that she'll get some joy out of and that she can share with her old man. I'm sure he'd rather get "knocked out" by a drinking a couple of these than from the scent of a Neom candle burning all night on a ledge above the bed!!!
Looking down even lower there's another review - Christmas tree candles!!! They were nearly £40 - why, why, why?!!!

Oh yes, she said they'd make a nice little stocking filler - she must have bloody big stockings! I wouldn't fancy hanging that from one of those "dodgy hangers" she's just bought, she'd bring the whole bloody wall down!!! Sift n' gift love, sift n' gift!!!

I've just been checking out the prices for this sort of thing and I found a brand (Moth) who do premixed cans of cocktails of the same strength and stronger and most of them are 200ml sizes as opposed to the 175ml you get in this set. They're £3.99 each but in Waitrose right now they're 4 for 3, so you could 10 larger cans for £31. 92 without a cheap mocktail thrown in. Take that away from the price Q are asking, then you've got £8.55 left to sort yourself out a plastic cocktail shaker and a couple of glasses! The Q bundle, despite what Hyacinth says is NOT a gift set, it's a cardboard box with some drinks and a couple of bits thrown in - Go down the supermarket that's what I say!!!

I’ve just checked out the phenomenon that is Qurio for probably the third time ever, to see what the mood is like as it approaches its demise. One of the recent videos I looked at (in the top ten newest) is about a pair of very shiny black Dune boots and quite early on in the video, the woman says something about mixed reviews online for them and the toe shape being wrong. I’ve played that bit several times and just can’t work out what she says. Could someone take a look and tell me as I am sure she says something about the toes “making a fanny”! Is it a “camel toe” reference?

Sorry to lower the tone so early in the week.

She has an Eastern European accent and I think she said a "funny thing" with the toes. I had a look at the reviews but they only said that the toes weren't right. HOWEVER, what you said and the fact they're a highly shiny reflective boot reminded me of a joke I heard once. A guy used to wear his wellies out clubbing. He asked the girl he was slow dancing with "Are you wearing any knickers?" "No" she replied, "Thank God for that" he said - I thought I'd got a crack in me wellies!"

Oh dear, I think you might be right. Now everyone is going to think I’ve an obsession with fannies or at least the word. I mean, you can see why with the content on Qurio and this forum, but now I’m seeing/hearing it when it isn’t there!

I love the joke! I’ve just had another look at the video to see if I can see anything reflected in the boots (strangely called ‘trainers’).

Marks and Spencer do some nice pre-mixed cocktails, I think they're £2.40 each but you can buy a box of four for £9. The mojito is lovely, I add plenty of ice and a slice of lime. They have 2 measures of rum and are 250ml. One of these is my Saturday evening treat🍹😋

I'll probably grab 4 MOTH ones before the promo finishes and with staff discount woohoo! I've tried the M&S ones and they're nice but they've only been grabbed on the way somewhere to drink on the train but I'm sure when served shaken over some ice and served in a glass they'd be even better! This is why I use QVC for ideas and don't just immediately buy from them - It's just daft 'cause you'll pretty much always save yourself a lot of money. I also saw jars of fruit "gummies" in Poundland which were supposed to be good for your skin, hair and nails and they cost £2.50 for a jar of 30. I'm pretty sceptical about these things anyway but I'd much sooner spend a fiver on these a try them for a couple of months instead of throwing £54 at the idea!

Didn't bother in the end because when I saw the tins they were absolutely tiny despite holding more than the QVC ones, not only that I found out because they're classed as spirit we don't get staff discount, we only get it on beer, cider or wine, so I decided I didn't really want to spend £12 on four tiny little drinks. Makes the QVC ones seem really poor vfm. I think I'll just stock on basic spirits in the run up to Xmas and make my own cocktails. I've got a shaker and a recipe book - much more fun and much more cost effective!

As we head into the final weeks momentum is gathering. Humping dog lady has gone into hideous polyester overdrive, Erika's promising to bung up some reviews up before it's too late but the overall vibe is the 🍾🏅🥳 for good old Hyacinth on reaching her 300th review and beyond. She has so much stuff that I don't think she actually knows what she's got, she's just shelled out over £50 on a couple of xmas throws (almost identical to the Cozee home ones she bought last year) and a couple of cushions. She said she's gonna cover the sofa with the plain green one and snuggle up under the festive one when she's watching the Christmas movies - talk about being sold a cliche - Don't forget the hot chocolate and marshmallows will you love? Or the flask of mulled wine in readiness for the carol singers. I've heard she's got some games lined up for the grandkids - "Hunt the thimble" (good luck with that one kids) ok no, "hunt the table" I spy with my little eye something beginning with FW, Postman's knock, pass the parcel, and no party is ever complete without a board game and this year it's "Go for broke"! Don't think those kiddies stand much of a chance, but it's the taking part that counts!

QVC sells a fake life and people buy into it as they want their life to be like that. Lonely and vulnerable people front of the queue. I used to do it myself, bought nice clothes for all the parties that I never went to, bought all the yummy food for all the people that never came round. No more, that money now goes into the fund for holidays that I do go on (y)

I wondered what the "I spy something beginning with FW" was. And then I remembered😳🤣.

Seriously, 300th review? The last time I looked at Qurio she had done around 200 and I thought that was excessive. I buy quite a few bits for the home, but its cheap stuff like tea lights or utensils from Homesense or Ikea. The things she's bought are quite expensive and can you imagine how much she's spent on p&p alone.

Hyacinth's postie's just been and he's dropped off a Ninja barbecue that she's bought her son for Christmas. I'm not knocking it, she paid a decent price for it free postage and loads of extras thrown in, though it's a weird old time to be buying someone a barbecue. This is one thing I like about Q is that they extend the mbg early so if there's any problem with something you buy for Christmas you've got until the end of January to send it back for a refund if there's problems with it. I do like getting my presents sorted out early but Very (where I buy everything from) don't extend their mbg until quite a bit later. Last year I held back on buying OH a heated throw just in case it was faulty on the day, but by the time they'd announced the extension they'd sold out and they didn't manage to get it back into stock. It was a similar case with a bar cart I wanted to buy for my son and his wife, it was a really good price it was flat pack and I thought should there be bits missing or it was scratched or whatever I'd be b*ggered! In the end I did order it early because I decided that I'd assemble it before I gave it to them and it was perfect, however I did have to have it stuck in my bedroom for three months which wasn't that convenient to say the least! Again I've got my gift ideas all ready but again I can't buy until I know I'll be able to get my money back -You only get 28 days but I think they wait until at least the end of October before they guarantee refunds for Christmas presents. I have to stick with Very because of their deferred payment plans - I couldn't do without them!

Hurrah! I was checking Very earlier and literally all of the Christmas gifts I'd earmarked have been reduced in price, as some of them were electricals I contacted them and asked when the extended guarantee kicks in. I was told that it started a couple of weeks ago, so I'm actually pleased that I only just found out because I'd have paid a lot more money and would've had the hassle of returning and reordering - I've saved myself over £100 by waiting. 6 parcels on their way and p&p? £3.99 for the whole lot! It wouldn't hurt QVC to do this sort of thing for the Christmas period at least, but we all know hell will freeze over first!

I presume that with the demise of Quorio this thread will also come to a close. I just wanted to say that this thread has made me laugh out loud so much, I've enjoyed reading every post. Merryone, will miss your renditions of Hyacinth and her deliveries, bless her! I wonder if she might, just might, cut down on her obsession with buying read diffusers, candles and skin / nail stuff (FW included!) now that she's unable to post.

They said they are closing it to provide us “with an even better experience in the QVC app in the future” so don’t despair, although Q’s idea of “an even better experience” provides quite a broad scope.

It seems a few of the contributors have been approached to be ambassadors so they’re wondering what it entails and whether they are qualified. I should think the only “qualifications” for Q are 1) Do you buy everything you see? 2) Do you love everything regardless of need and cost? 3) Do you find reasons not to return it even when it’s crap or damaged? Tick, tick, tick, you’re in!
