I ordered the Ninja blast as it was cheaper than when it first aired. I ordered it late on Sunday evening and it was delivered by Evri this morning.

I have had this maker for nearly a year now and without going into too much detail, theres a knack to getting it right, otherwise it scratches the inside of the pots. Once you've mastered it, its fine, basically make sure your frozen food is flat before you blend, scrape it flat if needs be. There is info out there on the net about this problem, three containers wrecked later -lesson learnt. I don't like ice cream that much but my son uses it the most and it can easily become a cupboard filler if not frequently used.
I've just been out buying all the ingredients, the ice cream will cost more than buying it!!!

I couldn't understand one of the things said in the demo. so I tried 3 times to post a question, but each time it disappeared, yet another website glitch.

Going back to my question which Loujareth may be able to answer.

When they used strawberries, they said you had to blitz them first. Yet when they made pineapple (which are much tougher than berries), they put them straight in. Puzzled???

Still "problems" with my delivery, hasn't changed since yesterday, probably lost or stolen.

Now it has sold out, there is no way of reading any reviews of it :)

I received it yesterday (Wed 26th May, no advenced tracking).

It is EXTREMELY heavy, I could hardly lift the box! It is very well packed, a box inside a box inside a box. Really needed 2 people to unpack it, but did it on my own eventually.

I used the 2 extra bowls to freeze a tin if Lidl pineapple chunks, this was exactly the right size to fill up to the 1 pint line. The other was 1Kg carton of Tesco ready-made custard, it only used about 3/4 of that. So both of these will be fairly cheap icecream or sorbet.

Just unpacked it today, it is huge, too tall for going under a kitchen wall unit.

But I think I will use it quite a lot. Can't use it until this evening to give it 24 hours in the freezer.

VERY PUZZLED as most of the ice cream recipes use CREAM CHEESE, I will try without. this.

Just prepared a smoothie to freeze next:- Lots of strawberries and crystallised ginger, 8 squares of strawberry chips white choc, double cream, and milk. Tastes good before freezing so should be successful.

The recipes they list make a very rich ice cream, I'm sure that's why a lot of them have cream cheese in them but when they are followed they are delish. I think it's harder to blitz whole fruits but I agree, pineapple is very tough, I actually detest pineapple, my worse food so cannot tell you for sure Strato as I don't use it. Frozen yoghurt is a great quick frozen dessert and frozen custard but my 24 y/o lad is a good cook so has made it from scratch a lot.

Mine arrived yesterday, but it's a present for my son in August. Looking forward to hearing what results you get. I don't remember them saying about cream cheese the on launch hour, didn't watch any of the other shows.

I've just tried the frozen ready made custard.

The machine was much quieter than expected, so no need for my ear muffs, which are essential for my Ninja blender.

But the icecream was very disappointing. Obviously, it tasted fine, but was the consistency of of biscuit crumbs. So I re-spun it, no difference, so re-spun again, no diiference.

There is no way you could scoop it into a cone as the crumbs would just fall off. it was like eating small ice crystals.

I got mine yesterday, just in time for Mr M who's had a tooth out and has to eat sloppy food, so it's perfect and I've used it every mealtime. At £35 for the evening only, it was a bargain! He had oats, over-ripe pear and almond for breakfast, a cheesy thing for lunch and meatballs and vegs all blended up this evening. Very pleased.

I was less adventurous when I tested it out. I made a fruit smoothie from fresh strawberries, grapes and blueberries. It was pretty tasty. I’m wondering whether to try making the “ice cream” I’ve made before in the Ninja processor because, in theory, it’s just a mini version of the processor.

I’m pleased that I bought it though, especially as the price was reduced.

I've looked it up, it needs a little milk or cream and then a remix. It's out there on the net, lots of tips.

Thanks, I wonder if I can add water instead, so I don't add any more calories?

I control my calorie consumption and have done very careful calculations of the weights of all the ingredients and their calories to work out how many calories there are in 100g of the finished ice cream. Adding milk or cream would make the calculations go awry.

BTW I eat whatever I like, but stop when I reach 2500 for the day. My weight has been constant for as long as I can remember, and more or less the same as when I was a teenager (although then I ate huge quantities and never put on weight).

I thought the instructions said that if it is crumbly to just remix it, I will have to check this again.

I had been thinking that perhaps my freezer was too cold.

Just in case I decide to send it back, does anyone know the weight for free collection?

The blurb says it weighs 6.5KG but I assume this would just be the machine. The 3 strong boxes must weigh a few KG on their own.

Do you know what? I’d just ask for a collection anyway, they don’t come armed with a set of scales nor in my memory do they ask you to state the actual weight. At the end of the day it’s chuffing heavy and needs to be picked up! I have actually done this myself though I can’t remember the actual specifics other than it was an awkward package that I wasn’t prepared to try and lug round to the post office - it was collected promptly and without consequence. I’m really sorry to hear it was disappointing and I would’ve been pretty miffed that so many of the recipes included an ingredient that the presenters didn’t even bother to mention, after all that is why people watch and buy stuff from shopping channels to see the demos and learn more about the product than you would buying blind.

Personally I think £200 is an awful lot of money to spend in the name of ice cream and to find it produces disappointing results just adds insult to injury. Like Toril I’ve made successful fruit sorbets and ice cream from just banana with a simple bullet blender. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

If it were me, I’d ring QVC customer services and ask for a returns label.

Stratto, just reading Sazza's post it's got to be massive 15kg to qualify for collection, and I'd imagine that the outer packaging wouldn't make up that amount and thinking about it the item I returned wasn't from QVC and I don't think I had to phone and speak to someone, I just filled in an online request. However, it could be worth contacting C/S to see if they'll make an exception and perhaps tell them that you're not happy with the machine as it doesn't churn properly. I would just say if you're not entirely happy with it, don't just hang on to it to save yourself the hassle 'cause easy pay or no easy pay, they'll be taking £200 off you for something that's gonna pi$$ you off every time you look at it! I mean you could experiment a bit more as it was free postage so claiming it back with in 14 days is irrelevant. Like you said earlier though, the cost of the ingredients have mounted up to a pretty penny already so think hard whether it's worth it. Total shame though as you had high hopes!

I thought I would try some other recipes first to see how they work out.

But I was hoping it wouldn't turn up after the delivery delays, then I would cancel it.

I asmit it was a mistake though, as the economics don't work out, and I could buy a lifetime of luxury icecream for the price of the machine (at my time of life).

So the fact that the icecream wasn't actually icecream was the last straw.

I am going to return it!

Rang CS, told them the icecream was crumbly, not smooth, so they will arrange for Evri to collect it next Friday (they have to send me a label as my printer doesn't work).

It is a lot of faff to use it, even without the extra fuss of adding extra milk or cream and re-mixing it.

I wonder if it worked in the studio because the temperature (with all the lights) was much warmer than my house.

I think that's a wise decision and I'm so pleased they've agree to collect it. You could be right about the studio temperature giving it a helping hand, but I think with some of these demos there's often more "helping hands" than we get to see, and of course we're seeing demos done by BA's who've had plenty of practice, know exactly what ingredients work the best. Lastly it's a bit rubbish to have to wait a whole 24 hours before you can turn it into something that resembles ice cream (or doesn't in your case, and others going by some of the reviews I've read). On the up side at least you would have got to try it out for free!
