This is currently on offer. Does it work?
Has anyone had a good result with this? I'd be grateful to hear what everyone thinks, or if I should be buying something different/cheaper?
Many thanks.

I have used this and it’s quite good. I like the blue one which was really good. It’s made by the same company, but you dilute it

We use Wet and Forget on the moss on our driveway. It does work. From memory I think it can take up to a few weeks for it to do so. Won't stop it coming back though next year. Also we have used it on our fences, and have used it on mouldy bits on the outside of the house. Check Amazon though in case it is cheaper there.

Patio Magic. Have used that myself, takes a good few weeks to make a noticeable impact.

Unable to compare with wet and forget as I have never tried that.

I use the blue version every year and it’s brilliant. I usually get it on a deal and stock up with it when I see one. I’ve already got 10 litres waiting in the barn for next year. I’ve got a lot of bloc paving and flagstones to spray and, after doing it in January this year, the garden was algae free within two days which was pretty quick as it was cold weather. I also did walls and the fencing. I have used the pink version and it did a good job but, as I’m on a water meter, I prefer to use a sprayer as it uses a fraction of the amount of water to do the entire garden compared to the gallons that the pink one plus the hose would do.

The blue one is excellent - not tried the pink as you're just paying for the fact it's been diluted so ready to use and in a trigger bottle. But if that's convenient for you I'd go for it as it's really good!

I've used Patio Magic for years now, absolutely brilliant on patio, walls and my pots. Usually use it twice a year, currently have only a slight bit of green on some of the patio. £9.97 for 2 litres from Amazon. I refuse to pay QVC postage - and prices!!

It's just exceptionally expensive blue coloured dilute benzalkonium chloride, which is a very commonly used disinfectant. You could buy 5L of BAC 50 (the active ingredient) and dilute it down to make a much, much more economical version of 'wet and forget' which is chemically identical (wet and forget is 10% BAC).

QVC is charging you about 5 times the actual price of the active ingredient.

I occasionally get the blue one from QVC if it’s a good price but I compare their price on the day with other retailers before ordering it from QVC. More often than not I purchase it elsewhere.

I've used Spear and Jackson Spray and Leave and I got 2 bottles and a sprayer from Amazon for less than the price of Wet and Forget. Just make sure you buy spray and leave and not the patio cleaner (as it's not as good). I used it on my caravan, patio, fence, garden furniture etc and can't complain. I also used it on my mum's conservatory and it got rid of all the green stuff around the window joints. I'm sure wet and forget is good but it's a lot of cash and the active ingredients are probably the same in all products.

Used it on cream coloured pier caps some years ago and brought them up like new. Was well pleased and just bought some more to do the same job. An east facing spot on the patio shaded by the house wall gets a stubborn moss strip that gets treated too.
Did you buy it from Q this time as its on offer?

Have you used BAC and treated green areas this way? I'm not sure what the dilution ratio would be?

Yes, and it's very effective. I buy BAC50, which is 50% w/w and dilute it 1:4 to give a final 10% w/w: this is exactly the same strength as wet and forget. BAC50 needs sensible precautions when handling, but it's not hugely hazardous.

BAC50 is widely available for about £26 for 5L. Diluted as above, this gives 25L of solution for £26, or 96p a litre. QVC is selling exactly the same thing in a 4L container for £32.85 all in. This is £8.21 a litre. So:

96p a litre from doing it yourself, or £8.21 a litre from QVC... As usual, the Q is coining it in.
