Also going back to this year's Christmas gifts, one of my friends gave me a Radley umbrella and a nice note pad and pen, with little dogs on (not Radley) but very nice all the same. I was thrilled until I remembered that a few years ago I gifted this friend that very same umbrella plus a little foldaway shopping bag also Radley. She used the shopping bag daily for years until it literally fell apart and I actually bought her a similar one a few years later that she's still using. I've never seen her use the umbrella though. The umbrella she gave me this year was new with tags attached but I remembered that when I bought her the bag and brolly they were in a sale so it came in at around the budget we normally spend on another which is about £20 give or take a few quid either way. I'm now remembering that the bag was black and white but the matching brolly was full price, but a blue one with yellow flowers and Scottie dogs was in the sale so I bought her that one. The exact brolly that I received from her this year - Now it's an old design so no longer available and seriously I don't know how I feel about this. Possibly she didn't like it hence bunging it the present drawer, though there was nothing to dislike about it imo, or perhaps she didn't need it, but did she actually forget that I was the one who gave it to her in the first place? Or did she just think, what the hell, she can have it back - insulted and then some! I can help feeling a little miffed. If I'd bought her an "iffy" ornament I'd understand why it didn't hold pride of place in her home, but a lovely little umbrella to pop in your handbag (especially as I know she loves Radley stuff) is inoffensive and useful. Use it, regift it even - but not to the person who gave it to you!!!! She must've spent about a fiver on me....cheers mate!
