Stockpiling...

Help Support ShoppingTelly:

I keep saying this on various forums (fora ?). Such drastic actions such as Tier 3 and national lockdown could have been avoided if everyone followed the rules - Mask, Hands & Space.

This next bit is long-winded but I’m so angry that it’s come to this.

when lockdown started in March I offered to do some food shopping for vulnerable neighbours. I did so for 4 people until the end of Aug and I’m still doing it for 2. Although these 2 ladies plus their hubbies are elderly (from 79 to 91) they are still full of life and are missing their social activities (golf, choir, swimming, coffee mornings, fuchsia society, visit family in California etc). They venture out once a week for a drive or outside trips - garden centre or the dump just for a change of scenery.

How dare people expect the elderly to just give up their lives so that students and younger families can carry on with business as usual.

youngsters who miss a year of socialising, foreign holidays etc have got many years ahead of them to make up for lost time.

my neighbours don’t have years ahead to improve their golf handicap, go on coach tours etc.

You are a wonderful neighbour to do this.

And, yes, I totally agree with what you say.

It goes to show that none of us really know how our fellow men and women are really feeling. It saddens me beyond belief that covid and its effects on life are driving people to such despair. Money worries, health worries, job concerns, psychological strain, loneliness etc etc all punch holes in our health and well being. Sadly many people won`t or can`t talk about how they feel or don`t want to offload their worries onto others but we`re all in this together whether we like it or not and it would be nice to think we are there for each other even if only via the written word.
I`m hoping we`ll keep the telly forum atmosphere of fun, laughter, sympathy empathy, support and so on as strong as ever and I know any of us can message each other any time for maybe just that extra tiny tad of company or comfort.

Having had personal experience of this I can really feel for the family. It’s by far the worst way to have a love one’s life end, the soul searching never ends wondering how you missed the signs especially if there wasn’t a history of problems.

I’m sorry to say that the Zelebs wearing it like an accessory doesn’t help IMO.

Seems Nigel Farage who is out in the US supporting Trump at the moment is changing his party's name to The Anti LockDown Party.

He has applied to change name to Reform UK and they willbe against lockdown.

Trump is so stupid he called Farage "King of Europe".........total opposite of what he wants to be 😂

One of my neighbours has bought fizz and issued invites to a lunchtime garden party for a Biden victory..... I shall be well peed off if we have to cancel. Perhaps he will want to drown his sorrows. I’ll help him!

Just did another 30minute walk!!!!! 🤗🤗🤗; that seems to be my limit as the other leg was aching at the end of it!

Well I think people have started stockpiling again. There were long queues at some Banks and Building Societies this morning and the food stores were very busy. Some of the longest queues were at the greeting card shops. I got my usual shopping as the shops I go to were all well stocked and no need to buy large amounts of anything. I will be giving money as Christmas gifts this year so won’t be worrying about what to get for anyone this year.
