Oh, Anton, was crap at Latin and you just knew he hated doing it.

brissles, it has been said before about normal people doing it, but will people actually vote for them? No, good saying oh a soldier, sailor etc people watch to see people they know or have heard of. Every single person will be known in some area they are not nobodies. The few bloggers who were on had millions of followers. Last year there was an ex-soldier, but he was a friend of Harry. On forums saying he was crap and should go, only got the sympathy vote because he was disabled. There is no mercy on the forums if you just do not cut it. We get Paralympians too. This year Adam Peaty who won gold medals this year. It will not be scrapped as it gets millions watching it wiped the floor with X Factor for years ratings wise.

I'm sure you're right Donna, but the people I've spoken to in this and past years, have no knowledge of most of the contestants, I even remember Len Goodman in his time commenting he too hadn't a clue who half of them were, - and I lay money that the judging panel as a whole are clueless about most of the participants. Clearly social media boggers vloggers whatever are popular with the under 30s (maybe 40's), so the producers are aiming at the younger audience - (again).

It is unfortunate that some get the sympathy vote.

I’m not keen on sportspeople anyway as I find the win at all cost attitude very off putting.

Normally I switch off any thing with Judi Love and wasn’t looking forward to her but I see that she has gone into fitness training on the run up so I’ve gained a bit of respect as I’m assuming she is taking it seriously. Big loud people (usually women) who think you can go from couch potato to champion just by yelling your way there really get on my chesticles.

I quite like the training videos as long as crying grannies or cute kids aren’t rolled in. A sure sign the people aren’t voting for them!

Preferred Tess as an assistant even though I hated Bruce F.

I know she is very marmite but Claudia can do no wrong in our house. That dippy persona she has is hiding a very clever lady.

I don't think seeing Fred Astaire dancing Cheek to Cheek (!) with Gene Kelly would have been such a classic masterpiece 80 years later.

Lets face it what would there be to watch Saturday night if there wasn’t Strictly.

🤔🤭😂

I don’t want to watch two men or two women dancing together either!
Two of our near neighbours are lovely blokes, in their 50`s and we were invited to their wedding a couple of years ago but I must admit I found it strange but in a nice way, to see them do their first dance together. They have been together for a long time, one of them has a now adult daughter from a previous marriage and his daughter walked him down the aisle. The other guy was walked down the aisle by his sister. Both "came out " quite late in life and sadly one of them still has living parents who refuse to have anything to do with him and the other still has his Mum who adores the ground he walks on. They are blissfully happy, they have a gorgeous home and do everything in life together. I`m only gutted they don`t live directly next door to us instead of the 2 wastes of space and their 3 soon to be 4 neglected children we currently have.

I absolutely love strictly but usually only know one or two contestants beforehand. Once they’ve been introduced a couple of times I become engrossed. It’s become soo politically correct though. Two women last year, two men this year. I suppose it’ll be a ‘they’ next year or a man in a frock! I believe there’s a deaf contestant as well this year. That will be challenging for the pro.

Maybe not so much. I have a friend who is extremely deaf, but is an amazing ballroom dancer.

As for Saturday nights, I pretty much watch Netflix mostly, barely watching BBC at all, so I do object to my licence fee. I have been absorbed though on More4 a terrific 'reality' show with a difference these past weeks, called Full Bloom. In the US nine amazing florists competing for a top prize of $100,000. Their arrangements are something else, and certainly not the usual handtied from our local florist.

I watch a lot of subtitled drama on Netflix however I will be watching BBC on Friday for a new series The North Water with one of my favourite actors Stephen Graham 😊

If you ONLY watch catch-up programmes such as Netflix, All4, ITV Hub etc (including QVC on catch-up) you DON'T need a TV licence, but you won't be able to watch any BBC even on catch-up.

I do fast forward a lot of the program as I’m only interested in the dance itself and I cannot stand Tess Daley.🥱
Me too Lynn. I absolutely love Claudia. Her personality is just so funny and infectious but unfortunately Tess is just an empty vessel IMO. The lights are on but there’s definitely nobody home.

Not keen on either of them. Claudia excelled on Gt British Sewing Bee, but on Strictly the ditzy quirky persona she likes to portray falls flat, (as an aside I once saw a photo of her without any make up on, and she'd walk past you without being recognised).

Same phrases every week and personality of a grapefruit,😊

Tess “we all loved it” Daly is an awful presenter, can’t be doing with her at all. I don’t know anyone who likes her in her SCD role. But guessing someone does, or surely she wouldn’t still be there? Unless she’s ticking the “dumb blonde” box.
I usually start watching, then pause it for 20 mins while I take the dog out then fast forward to the bits I want to watch.
