Random musings and general banter.

Help Support ShoppingTelly:

I have set 'watch' and set alert (bell) notifications for a few forums and threads. I have not set email notifications.

This IW Random Musings thread is the only one where I don't get any notifications for, unless it's a reply to my post.

I don't get new post alerts at all, so have 'missed' the last 100 pages of posts...

Works ok in all other threads outside of IW forums. C&C, TJC, etc.

Just me? I've tried resetting the IW top-level Forum group watch/alert, and for Random Musings threads, watch/notifications, to no avail.

But as the posts are all the same, repeated, ad infinitum, don't think I've missed much. 😜 Cue trolling, flames!

Hope you all had a good Xmas and wish you a HNY, 2025, the year IW gets credible and ethical.
😁😲

If you have received many alerts from this thread, you may need to unwatch, then watch to reset the count for the number of alerts that you are shown. Please give that a try.

I’m pretty sure that the New Sick Do Buy Dubai air fresheners have been on previously at £9.99 for all 4. They’re now at clearance price of £4.99 each or get 20% off for all 4 “scents” for £15.97. Not that I’d buy them at any price or accept them as a free gift.
You're almost right.

They were £9.99 for 1.
Then £6.38 for 3.
Then £17.42 for 5.
Then £2.99 for 32.
Then £9.99 for 4 (the time you've remembered)
Then £4.48 for 7.
Then £0.50 for 3 lids.
Then £15.83 for 15 or £25.83 for 9.

IW like to be fully transparent with their current and previous pricing ...

"The world is fast-paced, it's demanding in everyday life".......so this is about flogging bamboo mattresses. It's anti-mercurial, (so does that mean you'll never get mercury poisoning, Pete?). "There will be no more odours". "It's good if you have irritation problems"......Well, only with you, Pete.

And Chelsea will win the cup final and my Premium Bonds will yield 20 million.... OK, so I made up the last sentence...

Trust me, if I've eaten a dozen Brussels Sprouts and let one rip, there WILL be odours ...

Don't judge us by your standards, ripped, stained, lumpy, bumpy mattresses, springs sticking up. Maybe in your hovel, Pedro, but certainly not in any of ours. 🤮🤮

I remember years ago on the original IW when they were flogging the new super duper memory foam mattresses, they had a prop traditional mattress that was supposed to represent what most of us owned.

You couldn't have found a more worn, dirty, past its best mattress if you tried. They would then sit on the end to show how rubbish it was, not keeping its shape etc.

Ah yes, the good old days ...

Sincerely! You don't know the meaning of the word. He loves it when they are supposedly beating Amazon, but never mentions it on the many occasions when they don't.
The thing was they weren’t beating Amazon. They were not comparing like with like. Like they do when they use an artificially high manufacturers’ RRP comparison, which suits their rationale on things like watches and beauty products. They found something that looked the same Amazon were selling for a lot more money and went with that. No direct link to the compared item, either. You BEAT Amazon when you find the SAME item your company is selling for less. Not one of a similar genre.

As we are so tired of seeing - what they do generally is create some sh itty looking template with an image of a product that looks similar, then type in a price next to it, then use it as ‘Not a Direct Comparison’ with a source date typed in alongside it. It could be a £50 bag they are hawking, but to promote the ‘value’ they’ll stick a photo of a £250 bag of similar colour and style, and then emphasise the ‘great savings’ the poor, hapless sap who falls for it is actually making. It is farcical in the extreme to do such a thing. But some kid thinks they are being smart, and the practice continues unchecked by the useless body meant to be policing shopping channels in general. If a high street retailer tried a similar tactic they’d be laughed off it, and probably stopped from doing so by Trading Standards, too….

Local car dealer: ‘Massive £30,000 Saving On This Car’ poster stuck on a vehicle.
Customer: “But this is a green 1992 Proton estate and the £30,000 saving is compared to a green 2024 BMW estate with similar black tyres…
Customer laughs and walks out…

I honestly see no difference whatsoever in the ludicrous scenario above and what Ideal World is doing day on day..

Even Edwards refused to go with a watch non-direct price comparison last night!! Saying the watch chosen didn’t look enough like their one. And there you have it…The whole vile strategy is based on visuals and not substance.

I checked dms. You sent me a message that just said ‘Hi’.
Could you explain why? Are you attempting to intimidate?

(Admin - if this is against forum rules, please remove and I apologise. Under normal circumstances I would never discuss a DM on the forum. I just find it odd that on a day when I was very mildly critical of ‘Saintslad’ and his having a go at the forum members, I suddenly get a DM from ‘Floormanager’ (never had one before). Seemed like an attempt (like using our names live) to intimidate. Or am I paranoid? My MS is playing up a lot today, so I might be being a bit overly ‘down’…)

Yes, couldn't believe it, Sunday morning and there's Dirty Peter and Reg Varney as a double act.

We have them vying over who could hype up those poundshop dehumidifier cartons the most.

Paul Burke doing the siren and Pedro ranting about "smells from a downstairs loo, not only damp spores, not only dander"

Pedro claimed a sell-out, Burke said he wasn't saying they were sold out until they'd all been paid for!!

Maybe, just maybe, those of you who missed out will get another final chance to buy.

Now all you need is Hairy Mary…

The more I think about it, the more I think there are one or two bot type usernames on here - possibly with more than one person using them…Ideal World related? Possibly?
