Hi all,
I've just received a letter from QVC about this event at end Jan 2011 - 1st time for everything! If anyone's been to one of these things could you please let me know what goes on? What's it all about? Is it worth going?
Thanks very much.

I agree Jude what a misery chops she is if the products weren't any good she certainly wouldn't sell me anything, I tried to chat to her about how long the mens shaving soap lasted and how fab i thougt it was and she just couldn't be ars..d with me!

Thanks - I'll let you know about Alexis smiling but won't be holding my breath!

I went to this years bash in January and had a fab time. I took my daughter with me and we ended up with tons of freebies (don't know what the actual value was, but it was a lot). There was champagne and nibbles too.

Apart from Claire Sutton who was there giggling away like a schoolgirl, everyone was really nice......................including Alison Young who was so down to earth and chatty.

I hope you enjoy yourself.

Aha, kash. Your secret is out! Obviously spending way too much with QVC especially in the beauty department. Let us know who you meet won't you.

It's my opinion that they don't need to invite the really big spenders - they're already big spenders. It's the people they think just need a little bit of encouragement to become big spenders who get invited to these things.

I don't know if I'd go again, but if you haven't been before it's definitely worth going.

When I went Leighton Denny was there and he was lovely to my daughter. Said daughter also had her picture taken with Alison Young and told her she was going to put it up on Facebook. (Like Alison even knew what Facebook was back then!)

Alison also did a couple of Q&A's and had a good old gossip about which models have had work done etc.

Nina Smashbox was there saying "exaaaactly" a lot - she was lovely.

Andrew from Gatineau was mobbed and handled it brilliantly. He beamed at ladies all day long.

SJ from BE gave the best makeovers and worked really hard.

The Benefit guys and gals completely ignored us when my daughter fainted. (not from the excitement - it was like an oven in there!) But the MOP girls were fab.

Lee from Philosophy nattered away like we were his old mates. The man was a pro. :clapping:

Alpha H Michelle was very regal but gracious. (that's the only way I can describe her.)

Nails Inc painted nails all day and Decleor and Elemis were there too.

I smiled and said hello to Alexis towards the end of the afternoon and she barely looked up as she said "Ihaven'tgotanyfreebiesleft!" in a strident - and plummy obviously - tone. The Pecksniff's lady could barely give us the time of day either as she said the same.

We enjoyed meeting everybody else though and did get lots of freebies along the way.

Craig had just joined when we went so he was there.

At first it's very weird seeing people in real life but you soon get used to it. :clapping:

Is this by invitation only? Is it in the QVC building - I only live 10 mins away and it sounds like a fab event...

that's the strange thing: I've only bought a couple of things this year, but according to the letter, I'm one of their most loyal customers!!

the letter I had asks for me to phone a number & give my account number to confirm I would be going - they would then send me a ticket, so I guess it's by invitation only. Also, it's somewhere in Islington - details to come with tickets. Hope this helps.

Islington??? Do you know whereabouts? It's always been at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster before.

I would love to get an invite to that. I've spent a fortune over the years on beauty stuff. Wonder how they decide who goes? Probably just a random thing the same as the christmas cards/easy pay voucher.

I don't know the exact method, but the one thing I am certain of is that none of it's random.

Email and ask for an invitation. Lots of people decline, so they'll look at your buying profile and maybe you'll get one. You've got nothing to lose.

I declined this year as the invite was to be there at 9am on a Friday....nightmare unless you traveled the night before and would have been very expensive with hotel and short notice for getting train tickets costing peak prices.

Last invite was in the early days and was held at QVC towers one Saturday afternoon, everyone was very friendly and got lots of goodies. That was much better as it was combined with a day out in London.

If it is in Islington it could be held at the Islington Business Design Centre, I went to one of the very early Vitality Shows held there and was one of the best I've been to that is not a trade event.

You'll have a great time. I hope I get another chance to go at some point (hint hint QVC and please make it a reasonable time as I have a long way to travel...ta muchos!).

:flower:

sorry, it just says Islington & full details will come with tickets. Very MI5/6!!

I suspect it's too soon to for you to have received your tickets?

Wonder if your invite is to the same event mentioned in QGossip where anyone can win tickets? It doesn't mention a venue but it's on 27 January. Is that the date you're down to go? I understood in the past that these Bashes were across two or three days with an am and pm session.

Does this mean we can all find our 15 minutes of fame on live TV!

Be interesting to see if any Forumites get to go? :clapping:

I received an invitation but, sadly, I can't go. I live in northern Scotland and the notice was too short to get a reasonably priced flight (I don't take the train to London because it takes all day). I would have loved to go to this event and I wish it was in spring or summer. As it is, it's too close to Christmas to fork out for a £200 flight and hotel. If it had been later in the year, I could have made a mini-break out of it - I love London!

I got an invite a couple of years ago when I was spending a lot on beauty products from QVC. I've since seen the light and watched the presentations and then done a Google search and got them cheaper. Hence I haven't even had a Christmas card this year. Oh well, I won't lose any sleep over it. Incidentally I didn't accept the invitation because I live near Manchester and it would have close me an absolute fortune to go. Not sure I could cope with the real life version of Alison Young anyway.
