Banned from Rocks TV

I've thought about it a bit more and I too agree that Rocks need to moderate Chat themselves. It is their business and they must choose the nature of Chat and ultimately what is/isn't acceptable. They then also need to decide how far they are prepared to go to keep people in line, because there are bound to be the inevitable 'I'll never buy from this channel again' outcries and other offended reactions. I suppose they'll need to work out whether Chat brings in enough business to make it worth the extra expense.

The whole chat box idea may get canned. It is a shame and I will watch and buy less because of it. I wouldn't throw my rattle out of my pram and say I won't buy again, that would cut my nose off to spite my face. I would miss the chat though. It is ultimately down to Rocks to decide about moderators, staff whom they have to pay or trusted customers who they would not have to pay. They would have to increase their prices as they already work on low profit margins, so staff will have to be paid. Mirabelle, you would be a wonderful moderator but I can fully understand you not wanting the job. Sometimes the antics are like school playgrounds and I never had any notions of becoming a teacher lol !

Idiot trolls is one thing Cherrypicker (hopefully they will soon all s*d off back to ebay's FHG & Q&A boards where they belong, happily gambolling round with their own kind! lol) but the other night was more auction wrecking, some items having 2 or 3 of the allotted quantity being nabbed by these moronic halfwits, which obviously stops genuine bidders buying & loses money for Rocks TV!

I know a lot of perfectly nice people use it but Hotmail has a lot to answer for, as the second an account is iced, they just create a new one with a new Hotmail addy!
I still think new people should have to register a valid credit or debit card (a traceable one, not one of these blasted pre-pay jobs that anyone can pick up!) before being allowed to bid, that should get rid of the unwanted element!

I can understand the frustration that you feel with the numpty element of the chat room but I feel a bit slighted when you say about the Credit Cards. I am nearing Pensionable age now and do not have a Credit rating that will afford me to have a standard Credit Card I would be frightened to take on a responsibility such as repayments like that, I also have a Yahoo e-mail account, so I am now wondering am I an undesirable!, I hope not. I have always considered myself to be an upright Citizen but maybe not now.

I am nearing Pensionable age now and do not have a Credit rating that will afford me to have a standard Credit Card I would be frightened to take on a responsibility such as repayments like that, I also have a Yahoo e-mail account, so I am now wondering am I an undesirable!, I hope not. I have always considered myself to be an upright Citizen but maybe not now.

It can sometimes be hard to function financially now without these, but I refuse to be pulled into a system I have no wish to rejoin. On the assumption that you do have a debit card (as even I have to for those very rare occasions cash is required) then I'm sure that will be acceptable. Wherever I am asked for my credit (only) card details I supply the debit card and it is always accepted. I think "credit card" is becoming a phrase to encompass all cards. I can't speak for Kitten-with-claws but I'm sure what she was trying to suggest was a method of screening out trolls. Presumably, in order to buy from RocksTV you must have a debit card? Those can't be got on a pre-pay basis (I don't think) so perhaps K-W-C might have said proper credit cards or debit cards.

I applaud your financial accumen and hope I'm as sensible when I get to near pensionable age (although knowing me I doubt it)!!!

I actually said credit or debit card (& in fact I use the latter for my online shopping payments!) - comes with any standard bank account, so no excuse for anyone not to have one of those to have to pre-register before they are allowed to bid!
(Perhaps something like PayPal's verification procedure might work?)

I also said Hotmail has a lot to answer for, not the same as saying anyone who uses one is a scammer or 'undesirable' - that's how these people operate though, a million untraceable potential email addies means it takes only seconds to create a new email addy & so open a new account if previous one gets iced!

Back to the point in question, Rocks TV will have to have at least 2 Moderators to keep things positive in their chat room or do away with it all together which would be a shame that a few nasties have made it bad for everyone else.

Actually, I think I've now decided that I don't care any more either way tbh, haven't used the chat room in days & probably won't bother again! Not too bad during the day but in the evenings, it seems to have more akin with ruddy Bebo & MSN than a jewellery chat facility!

I have to say that for a lot of people the chat room is a big draw for Rockstv. There are a lot of people who are at home all day, and find that they can be very long, and sometimes not too inspiring. So, having the chat room is one way of bringing more people into their day. I hope I'm not sounding patronising, because that is not my intention at all. I lurk in the chat room from work, every day - oops.

I still think the idea of having an 'opt in' chat room would be a good first step in order to prevent any new viewers being bombarded with whatever might be going on in there ;-).

I mean I know that there are things about the system that people find annoying just now, and I appreciate that of course they have every right to vocalise that, but to go on, non stop for 10 - 15 mins at a time!!! Well, I found it pretty annoying when they charged my card twice for an order, assured me it would be unlikely to happen again as it was a 'one-off' (odd then that the first person I discussed it with had the same thing happen to them!) but suggested I put following order on hold, then initiated payment for it anyway - I cancelled order & am now sitting again, waiting for money to come back off my available balance! :mysmilie_73:

There, that took me 1 min to type, I'm done whingeing now - as for the constant whingeing on the chat room, no, not just you Princesss, though I wouldn't know how bad it is now, haven't been on chat for days & although I miss the jewellery, am very wary of buying anything further after this!

Chat room awful now anyway, like I said earlier, has turned into Bebo or something & not my scene at all! There is certainly a particular group that go on & on & on about the same old thing (or joke!) & it's just irritating tbh!
I wasn't with Rocks from the start, only joined up about 5 months ago but it sure has changed & until they sort their IT problems out, I doubt I'll risk it! Very sad!

That's the thing though Kitten, of course there are going to be issues, and of course there are going to be frustrations, and people are going to want to share, and I am absolutely cool with that....just don't go on and on and on and on and on and on and on about it, you know?? It just makes people switch off!!!
