Looks like another click free TSV tomorrow. How many more versions of this machine are there??? Or, is it the same one as last time re-vamped

I was asking myself the same thing Pauline!

It's crazy! I am sure that even the worst techo-phobic of computer users, of which I include myself, can back up their files on a flash drive (memory stick). I got mine for under a tenner and it took less than 3 mins to back everything up!
If I can anyone can! I googled "how to" and there was the information.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see the point of this expense, especially when it doesn't copy the programme files, just those you created yourself.

I've got to disagree; I think the click free range is well worth it's money. I bought the original one to air on QVC and, even though I class myself as a computer expert, it is simplicity itself. The only annoying thing is, they are now introducing too many larger storage, better value for money models.

One has just been on QVCUS, and it has a stand. Perhaps it's that one. My 160gb is big enough for my needs, so I can't justify buying another.

I agree, you can buy external hard drive with twice the capacity for half the price. If you can save a file onto your current hard drive you should be able to manage to save/copy it to an external hard drive. Some computers come with software already installed so you can back everything up. You can also find plenty of free software to do this on reputable sites - cnet.com etc

i dont want one but i like the idea of the stand for it but thats where it ends
 
I bought expensive image drive s/w and it did not deliver the goods when the you know what hit the fan.:D I am also very lazy about backups despite numerous disasters over the years but I've been very good lately.

It won't copy program files because of the licensing restrictions placed by the author. Not only that, the software install files all over the place in Windows so even if it did copy the program there would be no guarantee of it working properly again as you expect it. What you really need to do is make an image of the disk so you can restore everything from a known good point.

I have lots and lots...I am talking about thousands of photos on discs and on my laptop....is the TSV the best option for me to save them too or what do I need?

Heard about the memory sticks but they seem to hold so little.

I would not be without mine and the new one is even better. Just so simple and for the first time ever I am backing up on a regular basis.

Go for it on easy pay you have nothing to lose but a bit of p&p :)
 
I have an older version of the ClickFree and love it! :clapping: Yes, you can get cheaper things and find shareware and other programmes to back up. But I am not really into all that, so I am willing to pay for the ease of use aspect of the product. It is quick and simple, plug in and it does it. This was a TSV in the US a few days ago, so there are no reviews yet. Their intro price is $140, so our TSV price is about right. And easypay is a bonus!
My question about this version, however, is about the length of the cord from docking station to pc. Don't know how long it is, but my pc isn't on the desktop. This version also has a a built in USB lead, great idea as the older one is separate. Seems very short and therefore fiddly to me. The person demoing it had to fiddle to get it into the lappy's usb and then it looked an odd angle. :thinking2:
 
I bought a 320 gb one in the spring. It's a good concept but after I'd used it for the first time I had 90 gb left! It takes everything including what you don't necessarily want, by that I mean not photo's, documents, video and the normal stuff you'd want to keep.
It's a pain to sort through and select what to get rid of, file extensions I've never heard of.
It has frozen when trying to view a vid that I didn't recognize the name of.
It was easy to add the file extension for my Topfield which I'd transferred onto the computer so that was a good aspect.

I wouldn't buy another one like this.
Son has since given me a new 500 gb Hitachi something or other and I will use that from now on.
 
I never used to back up files etc but when I witnessed the anguish of a friend of mine who lost everything on her computer I did mend my ways!

This does seem rather expensive for what is basically an extra hard drive....I've seen 1TB hard drives for only slightly more! Plus I have never found saving things a problem, when you click to save a window pops up asking you where you want to save the item anyway so I just select the appropriate file and folder...and now save it all onto my computer as well as my new External Hard Drive, which I certainly wouldn't want to be without now!
 
I have the previous version in PINK and absolutely love it. The docking station is a neat feature and I would be tempted if they had a pink version.... :thinking2: :pPC:
 
I do full backups to an external hard drive using Acronis which gives an image of C drive. This means that if I get a virus in the computer I can restore from a date prior to the virus. If the Clickfree automatically does a backup just after the computer has been infected with a virus presumably the backup would also be corrupted so could it crash as well as the computer and the backups you had been doing, maybe for months,even years, would be lost? I can see that you could restore some things but would it not take a very long time to pick out things item by item as it does incremental backups and you would not want to restore things that might have been infected? I am hoping that someone who knows about the Clickfree will tell me I am talking rubbish as I am tempted to buy it to use as a quick in-between backup device.
 
I have been trying to order this TSV on the website but it won't let me order that, or indeed anything, at the moment. I was going via Quidco. I've tried not via Quidco and it's still saying it can't process it. I thought maybe it's a sign to F.A.R.T. !! However, we have 2 PCs in the house and it would be an ideal backup solution as I've never backed mine up. I've got some photos on a memory stick, that's all. It is expensive but if it's reliable and simple then I'm more likely to use it. I'll try again later as I'd really prefer to get my Quidco cashback.
