Hmm indeed.I reckon it's high time those presenters who are past their' sell by date' so to speak, were given the heave ho.Put the old nags out to pasture and bring in some new ones who concentrate on presenting and not on other projects ,careers etc.

I tell you what, Ruth Langsford doesn't half put it about doesn't she, she's on High Street Tv website flogging, sorry endorsing, the Nutribullet, and who always sells the Nutribullet? Ideal World. https://www.highstreettv.com/ can't see QVC being very pleased with their (and it seems everyone else's) brand ambassador. :mysmilie_17:

Well, she'd look a right wally if she was at such a 'do' and couldn't bear to come within an inch of a dog or cat ! and I wonder how many cameras were around - sorry to be cynical.

It's not an act, she's well known in animal circles as a huge supporter of animal causes. Amongst other things she's been vegetarian since she was about 12, is an Ambassador for Battersea and ran the London Marathon for the Born Free Foundation. She's Patron of Born Free and is more than just a figurehead, being actively involved in projects such as travelling to India with them to rescue tigers. She also does a lot of things like this:

Amanda has a big fan base and her support brings in a lot of money to these charities and animal welfare organisations.

If they had to choose a Celebrity, then can think of many better and more established ones than AH!

Said before, I don't see the need for them! Maybe some of the easily lead Groupies will fall into the buying trap!!! :mysmilie_17:

Great that she supports animal charities etc.I do too as well as a few other ones (work commitments and finances allowing) No one cares too much about my,or the multitude of other non z listers charitable efforts .Although that doesn't bother me in the least. I've also been a vegetarian as an ethical choice since I was 12.I won't say great minds think alike.:mysmilie_15:

Kathy Tayler stumbled and err, err, bumbled her way through a preview of AH's range. A lot of it resembled stuff I looked at last week in Home Sense. To be fair the quality of AH's items is probably better than in Home Sense but much of it is 'seasonal' and I tend to treat myself to new summer & garden accessories most years so it doesn't have to be tip-top quality at tip-top prices.

That's all very creditable. But I remember a time when we had an overload of 'celebrities' (Martine McCutcheon, Myleen Klass, Carol Vorderman, Joanna Lumley etc etc) being photographed with everything from elephants to white rhino's in compounds from India to Africa, and you couldn't open a paper or magazine without seeing one of them with arms draped around a friendly cheetah !!! Sorry to be cynical, but its sad when charities have to rely on soap stars to bring the money in.

I think the fact that Amanda chose to stop eating animals at such a young age confirms her commitment. And charities have always had to rely on famous faces to bring the money in, that's nothing new.

I think most of us give to Animal Charities and other Charities but don't feel the need to broadcast it!!! Just saying!!! :mysmilie_48:

Yep, I agree with that. Having no children to inherit, any estate I have left will be divided between three animal charities - Battersea/Blue Cross and the Retired Greyhound Trust. I'm not a 'name' to warrant publicity, but there are hundreds of thousand like me that do the same. I wonder how much celebrities will leave in their Will when their time comes.

I used to do many fund raising things for the PDSA when I was a Teenager! Never once thought anything of it, just got on with it to help the poor animals who needed Vet Care urgently! You don't have to be a Celebrity to do good!!!! :mysmilie_10:

I like the champers glasses. I love the Harrods ones but seeing as I have a husband that only needs to look at a nice cut glass to break it, no way would I buy the Waterford ones. The Amanda Holden ones would have to do. Mind you I got a really pretty one from John Lewis at Christmas but I'm the only one in the house allowed to touch it, even though it was only £6😜

I see AH is doing what she does best, promoting herself in yet another revealing frock. Doesn't it speak volumes that she hopes to get complaints to OFCOM or she 'hasn't done her job', God Almighty what has society descended to when someone hopes to get complaints as to how they dress. Never mind, soon the final of BGT will be over and she can go back into the wardrobe until next year when she'll be dusted off again. Groan.

Wonder how prim and proper she'll be dressed when it suits her to flog her tat.

I'm no prude, having worn mini-mini skirts in my yoof 1960s & 70's, but that dress is disgusting. She looks like she's wearing a dressing gown and just ready to slip it off, as in a trailer for a soft porn film.

When's AH's show. Mr CC wants to tune in and see if she's wearing "that dress". WTF? He can look at me in my open dressing gown any day of the week (and I'll cut the back out of it as well).

I've just been discussing her lack out outfit with my courier & we both agreed she hasn't got the right boobs to wear that "dress"(although she does have a great figure) I watched Britain's Got More Talent last night & she quite openly showed the piece of fish wire that held her dress together??! I do find it both sad & hilarious that a middle aged woman craves attention in this way & I seriously think if she's desperate for Britain to see to her "talents" she needs to do modelling not sit with her poached eggs out on a family talent show. There's nothing wrong with a woman looking glamorous or sexy on a TV show but cheap & desperate is not attractive.
