I'm going to a purple poppy from Animal Aid this year to remember all the animals who have died in the numerous conflicts.

There's a memorial in Park Lane near the Marble Arch. I was passing it the other day. It's dedicated to animals killed in war. There was a poster about purple poppies. Now I know what it was referring to.

Poppies

My grandmother was quite a character. She reused the same poppy for about 20 years! She kept it in a box on the mantelpiece. I don't think she realised about donating. She just didn't like to waste anything and didn't see the point of buying one every year.

I might wear 3 poppies, a red one, a white one and a purple one. That should cover all bases.

I did buy a Buckley Poppy when the first did them but I also donate for a paper poppy. I would like to think that this is not another occasion of commemoration which has been 'hijacked' into a money spinning commercial operation. Are these P&P free or are Q donating the P&P costs too?Sorry for being cynical but when Christmas is being rammed down out throats in October it does make me question.

I do not like the way my small Buckley crystal brooch sits on the lapel so wanted a large enamel one. I decided to go to the BL site so they get all the profits but none there. However, I saw a small enamel wreath of little poppies which has a better fastening. It was £5.99, just under £10 with postage. I ordered on Sunday and it arrived this morning. Well done BL.
