Ive never « got » the allure of designer anything even in my teens when buying a pair of Levi’s and sitting in a bath so they would shrink to fit was the in thing I didn’t Get It 😔
I've been a brand snob a few times in my life, maybe not quite the same thing as the designer pov. When in my teens I loved buying NAF NAF clothing and in later years I wouldn't look past Sony for a while. Now, I'm not lured by branding and/or advertising in any shape or form. I pick the product that meets my needs the most at a reasonable price.

However, for those who are drawn to designer stuff, if the pennies allow they'd surely rather have a known brand rather than something unbranded or with a brand name no one's heard of. Yes you can call it snobbery or boasting or whatever, however many people fall into that category when it comes to buying stuff. If they've shelled out £500 for a bag they may well quite like their mates asking 'oh nice bag, is that a such and such?' and why not.

Hence why the stuff IW sell can't be referred to in that way, well, unless ...

I’ve never thought of it as snobby to be into brands it just doesn’t float my personal boat but I’ve always presumed that those who are can tell a fake from a mile away and wouldn’t touch what this lot are selling with a ten foot barge pole.

I'm not into designer labels in clothes or shoes, I prefer things that I think suit me and don't look cheap and nasty.

However, I do have a few designer bags, three Ospreys bought in TK Maxx, one Radley and a Kate Spade that was half price in the sales. And I'm saving up for a Michael Kors bag. I put a bit of money each month into a luxury fund and each year treat myself to something nice, more expensive or frivolous than I would normally buy. I'll keep an eye on Black Friday sales. Strangely I haven't seen anything on Ideal World so far that has tempted me🙄

When i was young i used to buy mostly branded stuff, Levis, wrangler, adidas, Ben Sherman not just for the name but in those days stuff was made to last, the quality was far better than unbranded and also better than they are today, and the price difference between unbranded and branded wasn't so great. Today, with it's bigger choice of branded and unbranded stuff, i'm more fussy and tend to buy what fits best and is comfortable to wear rather than what looks the best or if it's a branded name or not. But i also look for what products are going to last, far too much Asia/Far East made stuff either has strange sizing or just isn't great quality/made to last, especially in footwear, far too many trainers / hiking shoes that just don't cut it, many are just leisure/fashion shoes for minimal wear, certainly not built for sport or any regular hiking/walking.

I bought a designer evening dress years ago from TK Max. But my biggest spends have always been on outdoor gear.
i outdid myself over 20 years ago when I bought a pair of brasher walking boots that had the rocks rather than my feet saying ouch while hill climbing.
i still have them today as you can see below and the closest spec I can find currently would set me back around £250 😦

Most of my tech is Apple as it like all connects to each other

Before I became disabled at 14, I would be all about brands, but when you relie on other people to get you stuff, you just respect whatever they pick up for you

Never bought Apple, got an Apple ipod shuffle as a xmas present once, but nothing else.

To restricted on what customising you can do, especially in the desktop area and too expensive (and that doesn't just apply to Apple) when you can get good alternatives for less.

I'm a mixed bag :ROFLMAO: , customised desktops from PC Specialists, tablets are Lenovo, Phone is Honor 10,

The thing with high-end designer goods is yes, you do pay a premium for the name attatched but more often than not you do get a quality product as well. Most high-end brands care about their reputation - they can only keep changing a premium if people who buy their stuff do like and use it. If they slap their name on any old cheap rubbish that falls apart after a week… Word gets around.

So Sally: you can make all the allusions to luxury goods as you want with you "oooh, there's no label, it could be from the same factory…" but we all know the reality: it ain't.

Just sell this tat for what it is: cheap and cheerful.

Most people don't care if they spend £20 on a handbag and it only lasts a year. Sell it as that, and no-one minds. But all this "it could be designer" rubbish is insulting, knowingly untrue, and just shows IW up when, 6 months after purchase, the bag/shoes/coat falls apart because —shock— it wasn't designer, it was cheap.
