There`ll be a lot of people worrying about their finances this month. Monthly paid employees tend to be paid earlier in December and then its a long wait until their January pay day. During that time they`ll have spent on Christmas food and gifts plus stuff from January sales, not to mention new clothes or money spent on meals/nights out etc. I daresay more than a few folks are panicking about their overdrafts or credit card bills.
Before I retired we always had at least a couple of staff come to see a Manager privately at the start of January and asking for a sub from their upcoming January salary. There were many a sob story from some or just downright brazenness from others. One girl was a single parent with 2 kids and she always asked for a sub and said she`d spent more than she should have on her childrens Christmas gifts. Another was a young single bloke who openly admitted he`d spent up on nights out with his mates. One middle aged staff member always said he spent most of his December salary on his elderly Mother and bought all her Christmas food plus gifts and paid a chunk off her utility bills. Sometimes it was hard to separate fact from fiction.
The Manager always considered each request carefully and if he/she agreed then the secretary would write out a cheque for the person but it always meant come January their salary was less than is should be and so they still struggled to manage until February and so on.

Hyacinth's just reviewed her £36 (plus postage) tanning lotion and then banged on a bit about a few bits she bought from savers. She then went on to say that she's not got anything else on order so this'll be the last review for a while. She then showed a massive pile of invoices for her recent purchases and said I've been a bit "naughty" lately! I'd call it "stupid" - but at least she's acknowledged she probably needs to stop now!

I was shocked when I saw all her receipts just in a few weeks she must be loaded good for her but Erika has done twice as many reviews so must have spent a lot more and not being horrible but she doesn’t look so well off as hyacinth, and I’m not being old fashioned as someone commented a while ago but just saying this app has turned into a competition for a few and at last a couple of ladies have seen the light.

Pretty much same here. I have two credit cards, one which I'm literally down to my last £50 on and once that's paid - next month it's gonna be cancelled. The other one is a zero interest card which I'm finally paying off a consolidation of debt, and if all goes well it should be completely paid off before the zero interest runs out. My catalogue bill is under control (and interest free) and apart from a few other direct debits, & my contribution towards household bills etc, I've still got a bit to spend on fripperies- I'd never take it for granted 'cause everything can change in a heartbeat. Lord knows I'm glad I'm no longer tangled up in debt for the sake of a few bits of crap I've bought from the shopping channels. If I'd continued on that trajectory, I'd be up to my blinking neck in it by now, and there's no way I could have afforded to go part time!
In those dark days as you call them - I didn't give it a second thought! I was in complete denial, paying off the minimum payment every time. I even got a few red letters and late payment charges. It never got as far as having the bailiffs knocking on my door but I'd merrily bung a carefree fiver here and there towards my debt and save the rest of my money to buy more stuff - I had about 4 credit cards at one stage - just crazy!
I can completely empathise with everything you have said. I was the same, easy breezy attitude to paying off the debt I was incurring, minimum payment all the time and keep on buying unnecessary stuff and getting more credit and store cards (18 in total, no word of a lie).

Granted, some of it was nice stuff I squandered the money on but I didn't need 99% of it. I am so glad you saw the light in time. I got the red letters and late charges and carried on regardless (that song by the Beautiful South lol). I was more than up to my neck, I was underwater, over £70K. Never again. You will feel so good when you get the statement after the final payment that says zero balance outstanding, I promise you that. Be very careful, after your credit rating climbs out of the toilet, you will be bombarded with card and loan offers. They will all be at high interest rates of an average, in my case of 39.9% APR. Burn them, shred them, whatever, just destroy them! Never bin them in case your bins get raided for information. Never happened to me but I have heard stories of cards being taken out in cases of identity theft from information gleaned by bin raiders. Well done though for sorting it out, it is a hard lesson to learn isn't it? xx

All those subs you mention remind me of those terrible payday loan companies and shops. I have never used one myself but saw a tv programme, from the US whch was documenting the vicous circle people get trapped in. They go month to month on these very expensive loans, t's lke a hamster on the wheel and they can't get off. Apparently, military families n the States are amongst the worst affected. Why don't they / we in the UK pay the people who are prepared to die for us all a decent wage they can live on?

I know people get into debt for all sorts of reasons some practically unavoidable but Qurio has opened my eyes to the totally needless spending of some of these people.£30 here £60 there and the P&P costs alone would pay for a holiday.I used to have loads of store cards but never ever took them to the limit, now I have one.If fact when I applied for that I expected to fill in the form and receive the temporary card straight away. Not so, had to provide all sorts of evidence.I was most put out, no mortgage, no loans, no debts why? Thought I probably ‘didn’t exist’ no credit rating? My finances are well in check and it feels good, store card is paid off same with my one credit card.I can still shop and spoil myself but the cash is there. How some of these Qurioistas sleep at night goodness knows, all for stuff that will be forgotten about tomorrow.

Just seen those invoices! Total stupidity, and that is even if she has a sizeable disposable income.

My torch forum had a "flash sale" at 10 am today, 1000s tried to buy items, and the most popular item sold out in less than 20 seconds (yes, really).

I put one into my basket, but you had to checkout and pay in seconds. Someone else posted that it had been snatched from their basket while they were paying, at 10am and 20 seconds. So needless to say, mine disappeared from my basket in the blink of an eye.

And the photos of everyone's collections of literally 100s of torches are flooding in (to win a torch). Many are identical except in many different colours. Some collections are worth MANY £1000s, with individual torches up to £700 each, and most between £100 to £300.

I probably said it before, but many collectors don't even open the sealed boxes, so they never actually get to handle and enjoy them.

And there are video reviews too, just like Qurio.

And now holly added she has loads more invoices in the bedroom 🤦 Erika has commented she has a shed load of invoice’s as well ,no sh*t sherlock 😩
Has the reality hit home? Do they think QVC will give them as freebies if they ‘appear’ on Qurio? Maybe Erika can start to return, the Flying Santa for starters but the postage would be the size of a mortgage. If the light does not dawn for some of these people there is no hope.

Maybe the Qurio lot should ring QVC and ask for a printout of all their orders. That might shock them into curbing their purchases when they see their total expenditure in black and white.

If I had a shopping obsession like that, there’s no way that I’d proudly admit to having huge piles of invoices. Are they all vying to win the “Best QVC customer” award?

Me neither I’d be ashamed

With gas and electric bills and everything else going through the roof we have to be a bit careful with our spending and I bet these same ladies are first to moan when those bills come in but proudly show off what they have spent on Q still no sign of Katy pullinger 🤔

She’s too busy modelling a new Finery dress in her Morning Style hour and will be wearing it with heels this evening when she goes out to dinner for her Mother’s birthday today.

Maybe she is actually ashamed (I somehow doubt it )to go back on the app after receipts that are like confetti 🎉 scattered around by the addicts. These people have no concern for the customers.
Still missing Katy after all your smirking on the app, enjoy your dinner these qurio ladies are paying for your lifestyle.
