It's not against the law to listen to the directions from your mobiles sat nav (like music) but if you hold the phone in your car, touch it or reprogram it and get caught, it's a £200 fine and a potential ban, so I'd say it's 99% against the the law, and one percent hoping you get away with it if caught. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...one-satnav-could-see-arrested-drivers-warned/

Blimey, here is me thinking that this is just an 'entertainment' forum, when no someone comes along and gives 'public information', thanks for that @love, I had no idea, that was the case, will have to tell my Dad, as he sometimes uses it if the main Sat-Nav is having a 'electronic strop'! (or just needs re-charging!)

Yes, I have a VW Up which has an inbuilt holder for my phone and a dedicated VW app, I assume it's still ok to use in that way as it's no different to how you'd use an actual satnav device.
