Presenters Buying Items Whilst On Air!!

Charlie telling Michelle to do an order live on tv was last monday, he wanted something for his daughter, think it was a fudge kit, and he told all viewers, his membership number, was in a little draw, in a table alongside the passageway

Oh :( I wish they would stop it! It is totally unprofessional! As has been stated they know perfectly well in advance what is going be on air. Have seen many "getting to know QVC" hours where they explained all that stuff. So this really is a case of a cheap sales ploy!

Charlie Brook is full of bollocks! His house is down the road from my holiday home too - in the other direction from Liz Earle!

Maybe they do take note of the comments here as Charlie has just said that he has ordered his EasiYo before going on air.

Nothing surprised me with Charlie , I remember a while back he was on air and his daughter tweeted him , not only did he read it out and it had nothing to do with the show , he tweeted her back whilst on air , yet the other 20 odd tweets he recieved didn't get a reply.

Actually many companies do not allow their staff to participate in their promotions because it reflects badly if a genuine customer misses out.

I know this is standard for competitions and promotions, so that the customers don't feel it's a fix if staff members win, but I've never known a shop that won't allow its staff to buy its products. In fact I've never known a shop that doesn't give staff discounts - and QVC is just a shop.

It doesn't bother me when they buy items on air, because it's so obviously just a sales technique to make the customer think that even the presenter can't resist and also that it's oh so easy and quick to make your purchase. It's a shopping channel so it's only to be expected. I think it's distinctly possible that they're not really buying the item at all.

If they are not buying the item as they are claiming, then they are lying. I think anyone with the merest modicum of intelligence can see through their ploys.

To keep the record straight:
It wasn't me that said that, it was donna255:
A few years back Huntley whined through a whole two hours show because a pair of earrings she wanted sold out. The usual 'Please save a pair for me!', they sold out just after that and it was whine, whine, whine, whine.

Chutnley did the same on a Judith Williams show about a month ago, there was this new body type of cream thing that was a new product, and she whined when it when Limited Stock, begging desperately for them to "save one for her"

It's a sales ploy to get us all ordering. Trouble is when they're all at it and whine or make an issue of it by asking their partner to order/ordering fussily/whatever, it becomes obvious and it puts me off buying, for one. Maybe they should just shut up about buying whatever they're selling and let us make up our own minds - or do they really think we're that thick?

Just read on Q FB that Debbie Flint last night ordered an item on air for Anthony ( presume ex presenter), surely Q need to put a stop to this its getting a joke.

I would love to be a fly on the wall at their Presenters Meetings, and hear all the ideas and marketing ploys that are flung onto the table by the backroom "executives" !!!

Over the years these have been so obvious - ...... including announcing on air that

" our 1,000th new customer today has just purchased......"
"this week we have had 10,000 new customers"

and now we have the constant Twitter and I-Pad feeds
"buy one for your granny and all at the care home"
extended 30 dmbg until January
more channels of the same
graphics that cover 80% of the screen
pushing extra items on phone orders

Have they recruited Michael O'Leary from Ryanair to sit on the Board ??????

"

If no-one is buying during the show the presenters will buy a few dozen, get the sales target to where it should and then use the 30 day money back guarantee - simples:Wink:

This has been going on for years, I remember Debbie F used to call up to the production staff to order her something! Gosh, I can't remember when we got cable tv, but it was over ten years ago.

it dont effect me in anyway if they wanna buy it

True, it does not bother me if they want to buy stuff, but I prefer them to do it in their own time, i.e before the presentation or after it, not during their presentation. I am sure they do that to make us believe that it is such a good bargain, but it only annoys me!!

Imagine next time your in a shop and the person serving you stops and gets a colleague to serve them instead, that's basically what the presenters are doing , There sales staff and get paid enough so the least they could do is be professional. You would never get the likes of Julia or Kathy taylor doing it.
