Pet Insurance ... yes or no?

so sorry to hear that capirossi. the new food thing is worth a try. i suppose as long as casey is bright eyed and well in herself, it's not overly worrying but definitely a concern. (((hugs)))

btw, as this thread was originally about insurance before louis hijacked it, the bill so far is £1,500. insurance will cover £500 minus £100 excess so it will cost me a minimum od £1100. the moral of the story is READ THE SMALL PRINT!

Sorry to hear that Casey is sick again capirossi, good luck finding a suitable food for him and I hope he's better soon. Janie, that's one humungus vet's bill you're facing, I hope Louis appreciates his wonderful mammy and that his mood improves today. I'm sure you're glad to have him home although it must be worrying for you until he starts eating normally again. Of course, they pick up on our stress so easily, perhaps that's why he's in a bit of a strop. Looking forward to hearing how he is this morning.

hi mam - almost no sleep as i had one eye on louis all night. he was settled on my bed when i finally went to bed at 2am but wouldn't settle with me in it. he's still whining to go out this morning. i was very disappointed that he ate nothing overnight - they told me that's when he would be most likely to eat:(

Oh you poor thing Janie, you must be exhausted. Fingers crossed he'll be feeling a bit peckish by now and hoping you have a better night tonight. Big hugs to you both (((((xxxx))))).

How's our boy today janie?

we had a better night and he's been more settled but he's still barely eating. i spoke to the vet yesterday afternoon and this morning and we have an appointment at 4pm. vet said to cancel if he suddenly starts eating. i'm dreading it because he gets so stressed out in his carrier and it's a half hour trip. i think he's considering another injection to get his bowels moving. sigh

Mixed bag there of good & not so good news janie.
Good that he's a bit more settled and eating a bit, not so good another possible trip to the vet.
I hope something happens before 4:00PM!

Hoping he gets a sudden attack of the munchies soon Janie! I hate subjecting them to the journey to the vets too :(

From mobile, please excuse any silly errors!! :)

well, nothing went in or out so off we went. he didn't mind being examined - vet gave his tummy a really good feel, was a good boy when he had his temperature taken which was normal. he's lost a kilo of his normal weight so he has a lot to make up but is 200g heavier than his lowest 12 days ago. mouth and teeth look normal so no idea why he's shaking his head when he eats. vet is still stumped. he gave him 2 jabs - an anti-inflammatory in case he still has some discomfort and an anti-sickness/motility to get things moving. he was a very good boy throughout. about an hour after we got home, he ate a tiny amount of wet food and did a normal poop :)

Hooray for the eating and pooping!! Bless him. :D

From mobile, please excuse any silly errors!! :)

just to let you know we hd another good night. he still gets frustrated but seems more relaxed and accepting of not being able to go out. i even managed to sneak the used cat litter into the bin without him tearing the door down. he's still only eating tiny amounts.

At least he's eating. Ah, that's promising news. Isn't it horrible keeping them couped up indoors though? :( They drive me crazy more than themselves I think!!

From mobile, please excuse any silly errors!! :)

he's been eating for 6 days now. they left the feeding tube in for the first couple days, then removed it. problem is he's not increasing the amount he eats. vet would like him to be eating a sachet a day by now but he's eating about a teaspoon plus a few biscuits. i have to contact the vet if he's not eating more by thursday.

i'm so glad i'm retired - no way i could leave him. baby steps works for me mam - as long as he gets better, i don't mind how long it takes :)

Louis update day 15. my sweet louis took a turn for the worse yesterday evening and is now at a specialist vets in winchester. he's had more blood tests and an ultrasound which showed an abnormal pancreas and possibly liver. vet wants to see how he is tmorrow before proceeding with endoscopy and biposy or laparoscopy and biopsy :(((
