There is a brand called Earth Squared, from Edinburgh who claim ethical trade, who do bags very similar to this at a fraction of the price.

Their range covers several types of material one of which is canvas/oilcloth. Purses are probably the least good value but perhaps there is nearly as much work in a purse just less material.

There are similar things on our local market for a fraction of the price.

I think perhaps there are too many of us of an age who remember oil cloth as not being glamorous in the slightest so we would begrudge paying this sort of money for glorified sticky back plastic.

So true ,I remember it being on the table at my grandmas house to protect the wood and it got repeatedly wiped down .I can remember the sugar granules sticking on it .

Those were the days.
