Anyone on here wear clumpy Doc Marten's ? .......... and with a floaty frock ? Its the same with all the colour supplements at the weekend. Miserable models leaning against a tree wearing Doc Martens, ditzy frock, woolly scarf and cowboy hat . Now a) the age group they're aiming at do not read weekend newspapers, and b) like QVC, refuse to admit that they're audience/readership is probably over 45 at a push and wouldn't want to dress like those models.
I've just bought a pair of these, NOT from the Q, & I love them. I'll wear them with jeans, a plain top & a smile. I don't lean against trees & have never owned a cowboy hat. Those who 'style' models so bizarrely are still in the dressing in mummy's clothes phase.

I appreciate I don’t live either the lifestyle or in the same climatic zone as dear Holly W etc but I don’t understand why shops are full of thin summer dresses.
Yes you get the odd mild day but they are few and far between to start buying them now. There was one on Q for £70 nice but very summery I would expect to be buying this in a sale at the start of October.

What sort of a coat would you wear with a long summer dress when it’s blowing a gale as it is here this morning?
I've packed away summer for this year & because the majority of my clothes are totally seasonal the warmer weather ones will also be packed away this week. The only ones that stay in the wardrobe all year are denim jackets, Seasalt skirts & M&S t shirts, a combo I do wear with tights & boots in the colder months. Finding outerwear that's long enough to go over a midi is hard enough so impossible for something longer & spending a day in a damp skirt following a wet commute doesn't appeal.

Yep, that was the one. Absolutely shocking, poor Claire.
Not so much poor Claire - Poor everyone who's had to model that monstrosity! It doesn't look any better on the smaller models, it looks just as ugly on them. I literally can't think that anyone would look at that dress and say to themselves "wow, that looks nice, I must buy one". And to answer the question about the clumpy Doc Martens and a dress, it's a no from me. I do have a pair of Doc Marten shoes which are strictly for work, but I've only even seen one person wearing them with a floaty dress and it was a very young tall, pretty girl and she just about got away with - I don't think the look will catch on in the way the trainers/dress combo has!

Twi, I’m very fond of a rinker boot also. In fact if I was to criticise those I have is that they are too warm unless you are out for a trek in the coldest of weather.

During a mild winter they are rarely worn.
