Model Frankie

Quite right Apple. Most of us here would be quite modest about our looks. I would never describe myself as gorgeous at all. I am very ordinary. If people are calling Frankie ugly, when clearly she isnt, what would that make the rest of us?

I agree that the moderators are there if a post is personally offensive, illegal, etc etc but as Frankie is unlikely to stand up for herself in here, then the rest of ys have the chance to be objective rather than subjective and speak out publically if you think a post is bang out of order. Its the only way to have a truly objective and balanced forum. There are lots of nice people online who are willing to show the nice side of human nature and stand up for another person.

My "there but for the grace of God" comment was meant to illustrate that we are what we are given. Make up can help so can plastic surgery but by and large you are just an arrangement of bones and skin. There is no need for all those people to knock this poor girl at all. So you can all stop nit-picking too about my choice of words.

I can't keep up with the Model threads, how do you remember and match all the names to the faces? I know Sharon, Goody, Beth and Cordelia but have trouble with the rest.

Q should have a "model page" like the presenters then I could join in more lol!

So is it ok for you to say I should be ashamed of myself when I haven't even said anything about Frankie other than the fact she was attractive, had long legs and a great body?

I don't believe this. If someone said nice things about her than I obviously wasn't referring to you at all. This post and all my previous ones are aimed at the vindictive, nasty people in the world who would rather crucify someone than do them a good turn.

Er, you quoted my post so I assumed you did mean me.

My apologies to loveheart. I quoted one of her posts earlier and I did not mean to. I did mean to quote someone else's but to be quite honest there are so many which are nasty that I cannot be bothered now to go and look all over again.

I think I have made my point and it would seem that quite a few agree with me that these pages shouldn't be for attacking people unless they have actually "done" somthing wrong or "said" something which is not true. Everyone has a go about Craig and I find him very likeable.

I am not a fan of Anna because she is supercilious and patronising but I don't rant on and on about her either.

Personally I would rather that former porn star models didn't get a job on QVC but there isn't much I can do about it.

Who's the former porn star?! lol

In every walk of working life people are judged, appraised and indeed criticised for those individual aspects that impact on their ability to perform their job. No one is interested in a TV model's intellect, time-management skills etc; her sole raison d'etre is to look beautiful and enhance the product she's modeling surely? As a result, if a model's appearance is distracting from the product maybe that's a subject that's open to debate; whether it's her pouty lips, gurning face-pulling, peg-dolly hair or whatever?
What amazes me is how few TV models there seem to be! The same faces: Beulah, Tiffany, Jo (the older blonde over-acting one) etc appear on QVC, Lorraine and This Morning as though there are no other models available. Does their agency have a monopoly on 35+ modelling?

Back to the perennial Q of forum critique of shopping channel personnel .... it's a forum about shopping telly!

*How many posts have you reported to the mods?

No one has challenged my assertion that Frankie's face is not symmetrical, which would be the logical counter-argument rather than implying that forum-members are less attractive-looking and this is their motivation for posting. Stick to facts not speculation I say.

*Rhetorical Q...that's between you and the mods

That old chestnut! "if you dont like my opinion, go to the moderator?" God, they would be overworked wouldnt they!

IMHO reporting offensive posts should be a last resort, when a post is SUBJECTIVELY offensive to a forum member. This forum is going to generate debate, and this includes sticking up for Frankie, or disagreeing with something that is said. Everybody is entitled to express their opinion, even if that opinion is that certain posts have gone too far, are inaccurate or even if it expresses a view that someone else disagrees with. If someone says something nasty ir critical about a topic, product or person relevant to shopping telly then that post is open to be argued with too.

You get all this from a few comments about appearance? That I'm vindictive, a nasty person, who would crucify rather than do a good turn?

Teach me how to be less judgemental; I suppose calling Anna supercilious and patronising doesn't count? I have much to learn.

I don't form my opinions by the way people "look".

I listen and I observe but even then I don't know the real person.

However I can form an opinion enough to decide whether I want to have that person on my television screen or turn over or indeed, switch off.

I have heard enough put down's and condescending phrases from Anna for me to know that I don't want to listen to her.

But this is the appropriate course of action if a forum member has been offended by a post.

I feel greater sense of loyalty to the forum friends I've come to know over the years and resposibility for their feelings than worry about offending the feelings of anyone on TV.

But how is that different to deciding someone's face isn't symmetrical, or that they hair twiddle . If anything it's a less superficial attack and no less hurtful.

The whole point of my original post was mainnly to comment on her unsuitability for the job. She cannot model. She is not proficient at the job for which she is employed in my opinion. Ok I threw in few observations about bruised legs and a hideous pedicure, both things that she coud rectify.

She is employed to look good and present a product attractively. She does neither of these in my opinion. I don't care if people agree or not and I'm delighted that people have posted their opinion to the contrary. This is a DISCUSSION forum not an agreement forum. We were all getting along fine with our different points of view.

Anyone other than a mod who takes it upon themselves to tell me what and what not to post is likey to be told to get stuffed. Or worse. Think on, eh?
