Some of the Mally lipsticks, blushes and eye products I own have solid metal packaging that would put any expensive premium brand to shame. Interesting her packaging manufacturer was one of those petitioning for bankruptcy. On the other hand sometimes she used cardboard packaging in the TSV's which were not so good, though the product inside was/is second to none.

I have bought and chucked out Boots no 7, MAC and Bobbi Brown. I have enjoyed using Chanel. There is no way on earth I would pay Tom Ford prices for a lipstick no matter how good it is. I have tried them in store and to me the texture is like Doll10 lipstick, but Doll10 use far cheaper packaging of course.

I have Mally eye pallets that are still loved nearly 2 years later. Her eyeshadow sticks and her eyeliner cannot be beaten for colour, smooth texture and all day staying power. I apply it over the top of eyeshadow, with a shadow base underneath. Her mascara is one of the best on the market. So for eye products I really think the naysayers are missing out.

Foundations are something Mally has never nailed. Face Defender is good, but I don't always want to mattify my complexion.

Her primers are the best-and I have tried many.

Her blushes are lovely, the contour system and also the tubes of face defender blush last forever and give such a natural effect.

Her lipsticks are excellent, I particularly like the cardboard BFF pink one, the medium nude shade and the coral one that is sold as a duo with a nude one, gold packaging, shaped like a chunky crayon. I love her lip glosses, so natural looking when worn despite the colour in the tube. They don't last long but lip glosses don't.

Many excellent companies go bankrupt because of terrible money management and insisting on quality ingredients and packaging. They end up in debt despite sales and people loving the products. Then they get taken over and ingredients and packaging cheapen, made in China, corners cut. So far some of Mally's products have been affected but thankfully some have not. Eyesticks, liners, mascara and lipstick (what's INSIDE the packaging) still very good so for now I am still buying. I have tended to buy something every visit for last 4/5 years! I return what I don't like.

Top post WG! It's the same with many brands; it's always a question of the product not the packaging and it's good to try all sorts of stuff (and price ranges) to find those products that work for you. I've been swayed by exquisite packaging in the past only to find the contents no better than Maybelline or No17 (I can't use any No7, don't know why!). I've been through the process of trying lots of different brands. From the QVC stable I'd rate Mally and Laura Geller's blushers, Mally's mascara, Joan Collins for lipsticks and Doll10 for foundation, brow, creme blushers and lipsticks (and other brands like Josie Maran and Tarte)

I like the look of the shadow stick but I agree the QVR rrp for the individual items is just a marketing ploy to boost the combined TSV value to beyond the mythical hundred pound mark. I suspect Q only stock a few of the separate items are stocked or sold. It's a win win for Q and Mally inc if they do. This sort of pricing is a boon to ebay sellers; their listings can show apparently heavy discounts and quote the single item prices to boost sales. I know, I've done it myself! So if I weaken and order this at £43.91 delivered I'm happy I can make £20 on ebay after fees for the bronzer compact then it starts to bring down the price for the remaining 5 items to roughly a fiver each which seems fine.

i must admit i do like her blushers and i can buy them very very cheaply on e bay. i also agree her foundations and general face products are rubbish. i dont have a line or a wrinke but mallys products age me 20 years. dont like her eyeliners avon is far better and far cheaper.

laura geller anather brand i dont like but her primer is ok and the berry blusher is my fav colour of all time.

Thanks Akimbo. I too, rate Doll10 for foundation and also for concealer. I have not tried Joan Collins for Lippy yet but maybe I should? I have had mixed experience with Tarte. The brushes are just to die for... and the lipsticks are very nice too. Tarte mascara is also good, and their lip crayons. I can't get on with the eyeshadow and blushes though, as they are too one-dimensional and flat on me. I am using the powder foundation from the last Tarte TSV at the moment, and it is nice but if I am honest it is still no match for Bare Minerals original- although I have had to go down a shade to fairly light now. Apparently I am getting older and paler!

I hardly ever get to go to the real shops anymore so and it's been like this for me for a few years now. This means it's QVC or Amazon for me. I really don't think I am missing out on my "make up fix" at all though because with all my QVC TSV's I am able to satisfy my addiction.

I find all QVC brands sell well on eBay (in fact I have recently sold a Yankee Candle item for much more than I paid for it... a QVC exclusive item that I don't use any more). That means I actually made a profit and got all the tarts that came with it for nothing! There are also some FB groups where some people are happy to buy used or swatched items. Personally I don't buy used but if someone is happy to help me keep tabs on my unused stash then it is win win.

I bought the Mally TSV because I adore her taupe eyesticks, and this is my everyday staple. I use her eyeliner and so glad this is navy blue rather than black as I always sold the black ones. Mascara is a given. Not sure I will use the Strobe thing. Will use the Lippy. The jury is out on the Face Defender boost. It will either do what Mally says and give a natural glow or it will make me look tango'd. So I will probably sell that on, along with the Strobe.

Having watched the Tiffany 'before' and 'after' make over this morning, I don't feel so bad ! Being older than Tiff I don't look as awful as her 'before' look, and as for the 'after' image - well, at least my forehead and mouth area moves naturally !!!!

WG wait until there's enough feedback on Q or here from buyers with paler skin tones before testing it. If you decide it's not for you, just hang on the the bronzer compact maybe until Spring, by which time the post TSV glut will have shifted from ebay and folk will be starting to look for products to give a summery glow. (But I'm sure you know this anyway)

I went for it last night despite watching the demo's and seeing AY and scary Tiff made up to look like they'd been hit by Marge Simpsons make up gun.:mysmilie_12:

I have always liked Mally's quality.
Wasnt going to go for this kit, due to the eyeliner and the deep brown compact.

But now it turns out the liner is navy not black, and i have just seen the compact demoed on a guy with bright red hair and milkbottle skin. It didn't colour his skin at all.

Just off to buy... :mysmilie_14:

Great idea! I usually get more for them when they are either hard or impossible to find. But I always auction rather than BIN, always gets more interest.

I'm trying so hard not to order this. .I'd love the eye liner and shadow.
Think I'll do ebay and hope someone doesn't want them.

I ended up ordering and got the email confirmation it has been despatched. It says it is being delivered by Royal Mail, I will be surprised if I get this before Christmas?

Mine came today. The eyeshadow is as good as any Mally Taupe eyeshadow stick-an everyday staple, along with the mascara and the eyeliner.

After vowing to sell the Face Defender boost and the Strobe, how wrong was I! The Face Defender boost applied with a very light hand gives a really natural healthy glow. It makes me look healthy rather than tired and drawn. The strobe gives a bit if luminosity to the tops of the cheeks, but follow Mally's tips on the box and use it where you would apply the light wand to the inner corners of the eye, and on the Cupids bow. I really like it. And it does not look a bit like the shiny tin man.

Speaking of Tin man effect, having just applied the Strobe in broad daylight, I think I understand why Ali Young can't leave the shimmer brick alone. I bet in her dressing room it looks good. But under the very very harsh studio lights she looks terrible. As someone who has performed on stage a lot in the past, I can vouch for rule number one in theatrical make up is use more and use bolder colours as the lights wash you out. Rule number 2 is avoid anything with a shimmer or pearl finish because of the way they interact with harsh lights. Ali should go for matte or cream textures on air.
