Leighton Denny

Just wondering, but after his anniversary shows in June, is he giving up presenting and handing over to Nina? I'll miss him if he is.

Yes as far as I know. I think QVC wanted more of a commitment from him.

As far as I can remember when he had his last TSV it was said several times that it was the last TSV he would be presenting, and that he would not be presenting after his June shows and Nina would be taking on ALL future presenting jobs.
It was hinted at that he would be spending more time ion L.A promoting the brand over there.

When he was on with the last TSV, one thing he said was that he would be concentrating on new product development.

He's now got the nails, Sunbelievable, perfume, and his lip duals. Sunbelievable has been discontinued at QVC (probably to make way for the other self-tan ranges QVC started more recently) and I wonder if that had anything to do with Leighton not playing ball in whatever negotiations were underway about his time commitment to them. All speculation, I know. We weren't flies on the wall, so no way we can know exactly what went on and why.

In the list of new products thread that SCW does, there is a Nina's Picks under Leighton Denny. So they have it up and organized already, anyway Nina does the German QVC shows without Leighton. She speaks fluent German its seems.

I've watched clips on QVCDE, and I think she gets translated. I think she also does QVC Italy, and also has a translator there.

If the guests are not english speaking, we get a translator here (Silvia Mori I think is one from Italy occasionally on QVCUK). The costs for QVC must be higher if there is a need for a translator.

I'm sure Nina's mother is German (and was a model herself) so Nina is very likely bilingual.

EDIT: Can find nothing about this on Google so ignore me as I may be completely wrong!

Kim M. has simultaneous translation when she's on in Germany..now that translator has their work cut out for them!

What a shame if this is so!! Like watching Leighton and his products are fab!! Just won't be the same if it's Nina presenting, sorry Nina but true!!!:mysmilie_7:

He definitely did say June would be his last show. To be perfectly honest, I don't actually rate LD's products, there are much better ones on the market and his 'success' has somewhat astounded me. Nails Inc is far better, OPI is worse, but the old favourites which are still going strong, have a great record over many many years, are Sally Hanson and Mavala the former for repairing or strengthening nails, the latter for the same as lovely sized bottles of very good nail varnish. I have OPI and I have Leighton Denny, none compare to the ones I've mentioned. OPI sell in China which is another reason I won't use them.

I imagine they are falling over themselves to be unavailable when she's in town. They wouldn't want to lose their good reputations.

Finally I managed to get to view videos again!

I've been on QVCDE's website and I am wrong and - Donna and Andi - you are right! Nina does speak fluent German and does present Leighton Denny without any translator. My apologies!

I'm also wrong about her presenting on QVC Italy - it's an English guy (who does get a translator to put his words into Italian).

Interestingly, the recent TSV has a bright red instead of the dusky pink (Viva La Diva as opposed to Rosey Posey).

I quite surprised myself when answering a question on here about nail polish and which brand you wear most often. If someone had said which do you prefer I would have said OPI. I love their colours but the answer to which I wear most often is actually LD. I wear his brilliance shield ... a lilac hued clear ... probably about 90% of the time. I have naturally white nail tips and quite a pale nail bed so a quick slick of this makes my nails look like a French manicure. So quick, so easy and I usually buy it two at a time!

I also love his Any Time Any Place. It is the perfect nude for my olive skin.

The best crystal file I've ever used is the Perfect Formula one. It's brilliant, it doesn't pull or drag, wish they'd bring out a bigger sized one in a case like Leightons, saying that though the mini does the job just as good.

I've got OPI, LD, Nails Inc, plus Jessica, Mavala, Orly and Essie of the big "names", as well as Revlon, Bourjois and Rimmel colours

Of the three main ones that QVC do, Nails Inc are the worst quality, in my experience (eg: the brushes in some clear top/base coat bottles I've got which have never been opened are frayed), LD are the best quality, and OPI are in the middle.

I really dislike the "humorous" OPI names, and the endless themes they do (Maria Carey, Muppets, Gwen Stefani, Coca-Cola etc).

I love Mavala colours, particularly as they are all in dinky little bottles. They do a fab colour called ELLE which is a cream in a taupey-purpley-grey which is a fab neutral. I also love Jessica colours - very good quality and last well.

I've not tried my Perfect Formula nailfile - I'm using my LD smaller one in the aluminium case - it goes with me everywhere. I've still got the weakest, bendiest nails ever, but they are in better condition these days.

I thought there were going to be lots of free p&p Leighton Denny items today but I can only see 3 on Q...not exactly pushing the boat out for his last shows! (one item is an ancient Last Clicks duo!)

Dear old Leighton actually said "bergamot" today (3.00pm show). It only took him 10 years, to almost his last show on QVC, to stop saying "bergamont". I'll miss him though.

Well that was awkward, on Friday Night Beauty you could feel it coming through the screen, Leighton just so didn't want to be there. Just said he's leaving QVC for good when Alison said, you'll be back for special shows though, oh the embarrassment when he said no, no............... Awwwkward!

Just seen LD on Friday Night Beauty. Is it just me or was he a bit chippy with Ali Young? Some digs at QVC as well, it seemed to me. AY suggested he might be back again for specials - NO, he said repeatedly. The remover kit containing a "salon size" - it's not coming back - not to QVC. He's got another show later this evening with AY - wonder how that's going to go! When she said you're on with me later, his reply was unfortunately, or worst luck.

I've always thought his banter with AY was through gritted teeth, and it seems that he's not even trying to hide it. It's easily the most antagonistic I've ever seen him being on air.
