Joan Collins v Lulu

It could be her teeth creating that strange area around her mouth. I've seen it before where dental work makes the mouth area do all manner of odd things when in 'speak mode' !! I for one cant take my eyes off it, as though I'm mesmerised by all the bits bobbing up and down !

Only JC could get away with that level of makeup/wig etc. if I tried it--well I would need to head for a certain part of Manchester! I don't like the look of her makeup, think it looks dated.Just shows she needs the cash to stay on Q at that time of night.

You are right about Joan getting away with it, but one of the things I like to try to remember is that Joan still lives a glamorous lifestyle, and has more than one house where she can chill and relax, whereas we do not. But, I think it's worth remember too that she moves in a different circle from the rest of us mere mortals, and I'm thinking in particular the people she knows in the USA, particularly California where her look will not look dated at all.

I don't think she's doing the few things she's doing because she needs the money either. I think she is still in demand albeit now for different roles, she has penache, style and feminism which she admits to loving being feminine, and I agree with her. I know right now as we speak, I will look good when I'm 82, but nothing like as good as she does.

Doing a crap advert for a cheap chocolate bar is pretty far down the barrel scrapings IMO

I really have a thing about celebs banging on about their Britishness whilst living abroad so I will never be a fan.

I quite like that advert, well it was funny the first few times......but even in that advert you can see Joans spreading waist in the unflattering dress. So she does have the same issues as the rest of us.Just hides them well.

I quite like the fact that Joan will quite happily make fun of herself for money. Her adverts always do this and are amusing and memorable.

Vienna, Get well soon and hope all goes well when you get the stitches and packing out. Spoil yourself if you can, you deserve it.

Love her or hate her, for an 81 year old Joanie obviously isn`t ready for carpet slippers and an old knitted cardi. Her arms and hands are a big giveaway of her age and I daresay close up her face would be too but hells bells if I can even be bothered at 80 to do a full makeup and wear high heels and sparkly dress then I`d be chuffed to bits.
At the moment I`m recovering from surgery and have a large arched wound with stitches behind my ear plus stitches inside my ear and several wads of packing shoved in there too. I have a badly swollen face, 2 black eyes and it hurts everytime I move my head, when I swallow and lying down is impossible plus I can`t wash my hair until the stitches are out after 7 days and the packing has to stay in for 3 weeks. I look totally sh*t and how the hell anybody can put themselves through similar for the sake of vanity beats me. I did it to save what little hearing I have and I resemble someone who`se just had a face lift but after this, even if I had the money there`s no way I`d ever contemplate it EVER !

You can't fault Joan's work ethic. And I admire the fact that she clearly never took herself too seriously - the recent snickers ad, and the earlier cinzano ads - she always ended up wearing her drink rather than sipping it.

As ads, though, I believe they were a failure - most people thought they were for the rival martini products.

Those were the days though - how often do you see ads for vermouth on the telly now?

In my teens Cinzano was the drink of choice, mixed with lemonade, of course. :puke:
I prefer a nice big glass of red wine these days.

You can find almost anything on YouTube, and those scenes inside the cabin, supposedly travelling (we thought) to some exotic place, and Leonard and Joan sitting comfortably together - what a hoot those ads were I loved them and always looked forward to seeing them. I like Joan too because unlike some of her ilk, she does have a sense of humour, but lives a very glamorous lifestyle. I think she's terrific.

Does anyone remember seeing Joan with her daughter on a morning tv show with her daughter Tara? I think it was about clothes and Tara was maybe being restyled. I can't for the life of me remember it's name think it was a short lived show probably when my youngest was a baby so about 12 years ago. I'd be interested if there was a clip because I remember Tara being very different to Joan certainly not glamorous.

Rings a bell DD...give me a few hours and I might dredge up the name! Usually about 4am!

Was it called Fresh. Also appeared on Sky 1 chat show Angela and Friends.

Fresh doesn't ring a bell but will trying googling when I have five minutes. I have never had sky and only watched channel 1-5 back then. I think it was bbc1 after the morning news.

I had a quick look on imdb for Tara Newley but the show isn't listed. Under Joan Collins TV appearances could it have been "Sunday Sunday" with Gloria Hunniford? Most of the other TV appearances listed are on Talk shows like Parkinson, This Morning etc.

Scanning through the list I'm sorry I missed Joan's appearance on The Fashion Police, she also appeared with Joan Rivers on "Can We Talk"...I think they were probably feisty together! I might have a look on you tube later to see whether I can track them down.
