Is Blu Ray non-region?

OK, I'm easily confused. Can someone tell me, is a Blu Ray a Blu Ray no matter where you buy it? In other words, does Blu Ray have regions like DVDs? Want to buy a US BluRay, just not sure whether it will work here. Thanks!

Oh what a question.

The answer is they are supposed to have regionalisation.
However many have dispensed with this and the discs are officially region free.
Still others have the blurb saying they are region specific but in fact they play fine.

In other words lots of info but no definitive answer to the question so that leaves you to google the specific title for an answer. I have never had a problem, any bluray I have plays on my PS3 no matter where it originates from.

Some players can be easily made to read region discs. As ever, google the model number and you should get a code or combo of keypresses to make it region free.
