Hi everyone

Hope it is appropriate to use the forum for a general question (Im quite new so still a bit unsure about the rules).

Has anyone ever had a reaction to the Gat throat gel. Ive used quite a few of their products with no problems but have tried this and erupted in large red bumps, very itchy and red.

Andrew B has just said that it has a high % of a certain ingredient and wondered if perhaps it was that, maybe Im not wrinky enough yet (wishful thinking perhaps)!!!!!

Comments appreciated,

Ta

Oops also cant spell Gatineau

Hi,
I had the same reaction as you when I tried the throat gel about 3 years ago. I then tried it again about a year later just in case it had been something else that had caused the problem, the same thing happened again, red lumps and itchy, I have never had a reaction to any skin care before so I can only assume that it was something in the gel. Needless to say I haven't tried any other throat products.

Obviously something in the ingredients does not suit you.
Have a look below & see if there's anything there you know does not agree with your skin

Gatineau Firming Throat Gel 50ml
Ingredients

Water (Aqua), Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Nylon-12, Saccharide Isomerate, Triethanolamine, Acrylates/Vinyl Isodecanoate Crosspolymer, Sunflower Seed Oil (Helianthus Annuus) , Laureth-4, Fragrance (Parfum), Saccharomyces Lysate, Wheat Germ Oil (Triticum Vulgare), Diazolidinyl Urea, Tocopheryl Acetate, Isopropylparaben, Ethyl Oleate, Retinyl Palmitate, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Ethyl Linoleate, Menthol, Ethyl Linolenate

Edit: Seems you are not the only one.

Thanks Kim Mc

I too tried it twice with a year or so inbetween, oh well saves a few quid on neck cream I suppose!

Hi yes i had the same problem, i managed to use one tube of this and loved it, bought a duo set when it was on a special offer price, and when i used it again some time later it bought me out in a terrible red blotchy mess, i really had a bad reaction to it, could not stop itching. I do get the odd eczema break out but my skin had been really settled up to then, not sure if they have changed the ingredients or something but i certainly never wanted to use it again.

xx

Thats quite a list, the only thing I know for sure that I am alergic to are rocket leaves (random I know).

Thanks for that though I will look into it as Im a bit sad like that

I had the exact same reaction red lumps and itchy I've never had that sort of reaction to a neck product or skin care before or since I stay well clear of the brand now!

Yes,I had it in a set when they did their 75 th anniversary shows a few years ago.A red rash right around my neck and very itchy and sore, washed it off as soon as I could and sent the whole lot back. I cringe every time I see it on now.

Well I can tell you that Laureth-4 is a sufacant/ emulsifier, a synthetic compound obtained from lauric acid and it ranks it high as an irritant.

Fragrance (parfums) are rarely identified & can cover a multitude of irritants

I've tried the Gati-no. I didn't get a reaction but it didn't do anything either so I didn't repurchase. Well it certainly didn't suck my neck in and lift my jawline as they said it would. Nice enough to use but no "special effects".

I can't think what other plants are related to rocket as it may be something plant related or a plant derivative that affected you.

One of my favourite products and no reaction whatsoever. I've been using it for years and my neck and jawline are in great condition. Funnily enough, I don't think I've ever bought it as a stand along item or duo from Q. If I don't get it in a TSV I ususally get two of them with my beauty points and have just bought one off ebay, for a fraction of the price Q sells it for.

Yes, I had a very bad reaction too.

I bought a recent TSV with the throat cream in. The first time I applied it my whole neck began to burn quite fiercely, went a very deep, inflamed red & itched so badly I felt like scratching it raw. It also came up in large, deep weals. I washed it off as quickly as I could but had to take double doses of Piriton for the next two days before it began to settle.
I complained about it to CS & they sent a return label for a refund but otherwise didn't seem concerned!

I would not ever use anything from the range again.

My husband was shocked at the rapid, violent reaction it caused.

Can I say once more. Marks and Spencer own brand neck cream at £12 is totally fabulous and blows the more expensive ones out of the water.

yes I like this as well. I'm a fan of various of the M&S skin care ranges, they are good quality and reasonably priced and results are as good as any I've had with the QVC premium ranges I tried in the past.

Forgive my ignorance, but why a neck cream at all? Isn't an ordinary moisturiser for the face ok?

Come on ! Spit-spot!
Why sell one pot of glory when you can sell areas?

"This isn't just any moisturiser - it's made for the neck area"
"This isn't just any moisturiser - it's made for the delicate eye area"
"This isn't just any moisturiser - it's made for lip area"
"This isn't just any moisturiser - it's made for the décolleté area"
Lol.
I'm sure I've forgotten more squishy areas

And don't forget your serum to go underneath, after you've cleansed, toned, exfoliated, used a mask, rinsed it off and used your trienzyme face wash, toned again and put your SPF50 on, even on dull days because those damaging rays get through the clouds.

Thanks Donna due to your recommendation that's next on my list to try, I was thinking of layering it with the argan oil you posted in that link :) what do you think? :)

Well. coughs..... Part of me refunds to use my good PCMC on my neck, but then I have a large bust and its the old neck which holds it all up(you have no muscle to hold it up there), so feel I should do something.
