Well Queenie as you know I'm trying to be good as well and I find - like most people I expect - a combination of the carrot and thestick works best for me.
It's good to have a reward to work towards but sometimes I also need some nagging. (thank you Loveheart! :flower
It's the combination of the two approaches that works best for me. I need the planned reward and to be able to spend sometimes otherwise it's like being on a strict diet and obsessing about chocolate all the time - which makes me weaken faster and go further off the deep end when I do. (Actually when I was on Atkins I obsessed about apples and carrots!)
I think you did a cool thing and deserve a reward, and some appreciation for your efforts. Otherwise it's easy to think "Why bother?"
Maybe it's just taking Hubby a while to get on board with all this? It took my hubby a couple of months to realise that I was serious about spending a lot less in general on the frills in life, and about cutting my QVC spend right down in particular because I am a sucker for the sale patter and I buy useless and unsuitable things!
He's right behind me now and has been making helpful suggestions. He even headed my daughter off at the pass this moring when she was about to suggest that we get the TSV plus matching earrings and share it!
Would it help to set a firm target? If your credit card is down to x amount by such and such a date then happy holidays here we come?
He can't argue with that then can he?
Every time I resist something by closing the window instead of pressing SUBMIT I'm putting the amount of money that purchase would have cost me away in a savings account. Hubby is expecting me to have over £1000 in there by Christmas based on past spending!
