I have really sensitive eyes. I have tried Liz Earle Eyebright and it dried my eyes out so much that the next morning my upper lids had cracked and split...hurt like crazy. I have tried Elemis and the same happened - red, swollen, and cuts on my upper lid fold. I have tried some micellar waters from the Supermarkets and the same happens.

Given lots of us are QVC beauty addicts, can any of you advise on good gentle eye products? I tried Ali Young's suggestion of a Josie Maran cleanser but it has grapefruit oil in it, so you can imagine what that did to my delicate eye area! Dopey woman.

Any suggestion gratefully received. I won't sue if it hurts me ;-)

Not surprised Eyebright did that I have heard many are allergic to eyebright (the herb?). I know many people rave about Floracil and have used it myself without any problems but it isnt really the best eyemakeup remover..and its a bit pricey. The best eyemakeup remover I have ever used was reccommended to me on here by Jabbathehut....it's one of the ones Simple do..the bottle of clear liquid. It removes practically everything with no irritation and is cheap as chips and often on 3 for 2 or BOGOF deals which is even better :)

Seems to me that when you start trialling any new eye makeup remover you should wipe your eyes with water afterwards to remove any traces of the remover. Then if you have no allergic reaction after doing g this a few times you could consider just using the eye remover.
For moisturisers you may need to just apply to a small patch.
Hope you find some suitable products

I am the same as you, Cariad, re sensitivity. I can use a product for ages with no adverse reaction then, suddenly, a flare up. I do use Emma Hardie and JW moisturiser (since China JW is off limits). I am currently using the Gamila Secret cleansing bar, but I would stress, do not put it over the eyes, as it will sting them profusely. I have no problem with the rest of the face and body, a hard working, multi tasking product. What I have also used, repeatedly, is a brand called nspa, from Asda, hot cloth cleanser and eye moisturiser. Both are absolutely brilliant for sensitive skin. The prices are unbelievably cheap, no animal testing, and Asda often have the range on offer. Cariad, please give them a go, if you possibly can. I haven't used the moisturiser from the range, so cannot comment on that.
Good luck.

I started using Simple after Jabba recommended it.

Something to try is, use cotton buds soaked in eye make up remover. Gently wipe round the eyelash area, it might help with having less contact and quick wipe of the actual lid with a cotton pad. Oh here is a thought, what cotton pads are you using? Not all are equal, many are bleached which might upset if really sensitive eyes.

I have sensitive skin and eyes and the Simple one works fine for me but I once had a really bad reaction to a new face cream and the whole of my face, including my eyes felt as if it were on fire. I bought the Weleda almond range and the almond oil from the range works wonderfully as an eye makeup remover and will balance your sensitivity. I call this range my rescue range, the slightest upset and I revert back to it.

Ruth from "A model recommends" recently recommended two eye makeup removers in her favourite beauty products from September, one is from Boots/Botanics http://www.boots.com/en/Botanics-All-Bright-Eye-Soothing-Eye-Make-Up-Remover-150ml_1261973/? , the other one is from The Body Shop from the Camomille range. I don't know both of them, they seem to be good, I use the "Crealine/Sensibio H2O Micellar Water" and absolutely adore it. It is made for sensitive skin and never hurts the eyes nor dries them out (my skin is dry and sensitive), it is really great and maybe worth to try: http://www.bioderma.com/en/nc/the-products/what-s-new/category/58.html You can buy it in pharmacies on- or offline.

I too cannot put eyebright near my eyes. I notice all the ones you mention are the very watery ones and I wonder if you need something more lotion/cream based, if you have very dry sore eyelids the lotion ones may by definition be drying it out even further.

I can't recommend anything from shops too enthusiastically as I can't use any from boots etc, things like simple and I would also suggest you consider avoiding anything with any fragrance and due to what happened with the Josie maran one essential oil type ingredients too. The only one from simple that I had some success with in that it didn't make my eyes sore and was a more lotion base is simples other eye makeup remover - kind to eyes nourishing eye make up remover cream - they still sell it, maybe it would suit you better .

I use skinrepair and they do free samples to try it out, they also solved my moisturising problems too but I hesitate to recommend as we are all different. I do (had patch testing after years of problems) have though if it helps multiple contact allergies to citral, fragrance, that preservative MI and MCI, nickel, cobalt chloride - this rules out loads of liz earle stuff for me and the eczema on my hands stopped when I stopped using her handwash after it being all horrible and infected for a goo couple of years. I don't get allergic conjunctivitis anymore or angioedema which liz earle superbalm used to cause, I used a lush hair gel and that contained MI, when I stopped that the eczema on my forehead cleared up so I do understand sensitivities and allergies can be distressing. My occasional treat is a dab of steam cream which goes against everything I shouldn't be able to use but once in a while so I don't react seems fine :)

Good luck

I would never use Simple products, as they irritate my skin. When I saw my doctor when I had a severe flare up, she also advised me not to use Simple, because of it's ingredients.

Somebody on here mentioned Superdrug 'Simply Pure' eye make-up remover for sensitive skin (no parabens or fragrance) and I've been using that for a while. I get eczema on my eyelids and sometimes it just disappears for ages and then comes back again. I can't wear eyeshadows, only use mascara, have used Bourjois for years and am reluctant to change as this seems to suit me. I recently bough a Darphin cleanser from Space NK but haven't used it yet. I get so fed up with my eyes (they get sore, too, as well as eyelids) and use drops regularly. I always remember my Dad putting drops in his eyes so maybe I take after him. Even saw a specialist a few years ago, but they could find nothing wrong

Whilst my eye and eye lids are not sensitive in themselves I have very very sensitive skin at the very top of cheek bones so this makes eye make up removers a nightmare. I have tried a lot without success so have gone back to tubing mascara.

Wow, so much great advice! Thanks everyone *blows kisses around* I've made a list of things you suggested to try, including checking my cotton pads and getting earbud thingies, so I'm going to be doing my own beauty trials soon. Hopefully one of the suggestions will work because it really does hurt like crazy when the skin splits open...ouchie.
Thanks again - you're all stars X

It's funny how we are all different,I've used Eyebright for 10 years now not for removing make-up but bathing my eyes every morning, strangely the Simple remover stung my eyes,I now use a coconut oil based product.

Garnier cleanser. Works a treat for face and eyes and the new blue range is recommended for sensitive skin. I react to everything but have never reacted to their products.

I find Eyebright a saviour for after swimming where the chlorine has stung my eyes. I also use it to remove my eye make up.

I don't know whether you can buy the Bioderma H2O in the UK, but saw one could get it via Amazon UK, that's why I suggested it. For me it is my HG concerning eyemakeup remover / eye cleansing as it does nothing else, just cleansing, no stinging, drying out, etc.

Good luck, please tell us which product finally works for you when you have found one. :)

Okay, I just had a thought for mascara. Tubing mascara, Blink was the most famous brand but others do as well. You remove it with warm water only. The mascara forms little tubes round each eyelash, and just come off with a cotton pad in warm water.

I don't know about QVC eye products as I don't use any, however I do use Optrex eye wash. It comes in a glass bottle with a plastic blue eye bath. I started using it recently after I suffered from conjunctivitis. Even after the red eye went away I still experienced an itching and burning that made me almost want to rub my eyes with a cheese grater! OK maybe not quite, but it was very bad. Anyway they recommended the Optrex eye bath at the pharmacy so I bought it. It's amazing. Very cooling. They also do the drops which are great to use at work or after swimming / travelling.

That Simple remover is the best one I've ever used, and I have sensitive eyes.
The EL night repair eye is also very soothing, it's not cheap, but I had a 7ml sample to try, it's lovely.
