You realise Emu is terrible quality sheepskin when you try something else. I have Shepherd sheepskin slippers and wear them year round all the time in the house, 4 years old and still looking great, no deterioration of the sheepskin, and certainly no toe poking through like you see in so many Emu reviews!

I believe Celtic and Co is also very good, although I haven't tried them personally.

I learned my lesson .Even the waterproof Pattersons are no good for dog walking, unless you walk in a nicely manicured park. The fact they demonstrate putting the boot under water for a few seconds ,doesn't replicate the battering they get walking on soggy grass for an hour.

I may try other brands in the future but currently happy with my Chuggas and Wellies for the dog.

I have not owned a pair but I would not dog walk over muddy fields in anything but proper walking shoes or boots or jackets.

I don't the style of any of the Emu boots. They look too clumpy, in my opinion, and I certainly wouldn't pay the amount of money that they charge. I did buy some of the Emu slippers a couple of years ago but got rid of them because the black soles left marks on my cream carpet. Luckily it was due to be replaced as I'd inherited it when I moved here, but I wasn't prepared to risk wrecking a new carpet, which is also cream.

Celtic &co are good.A British company. They use fleeces which are predominantly bi-products of the meat industry. My mum always buys them and I have a pair even though the only boots I usually wear are wellies.Hard wearing and well made ,they are not cheap but no more expensive than Emus in many cases. However,in my opinion they are superior and support British industry too. They also sell clothes.

I swear by my Chuggas too! Four years old this season but still going strong and looking good. I have tried Emus in the past, but I found them uncomfortable and they also made my feet and legs itch. I have seen other brands I'd like to try, also other types from Skechers, but I'm no longer prepared to pay QVC's stupid P&P charges, with the potential for return charges as well. It often amounts to more than £10 just to try them on.

I agree now ,but I was taken in by the sales pitch of the waterproof Emus that they are OK for dog walking. The area I walk is not particularly muddy ,but the boots cannot cope with wet grass on a regular basis.

I learned my lesson.
