The recharge black pepper bottle & the tobacco absolute that leaked smell the same as the ones I have in the bathroom.
Thanks. The others in the box smelt the same as ones I had, too - it was just the FPP smell and colour. Oh, and there were also small stains from leakages in the boxes. Must have been a mechanical failure on the production line.

Initially I was asked to return them, I replied saying I could still gift the other bottles separately & requested a refund for the 2 bottles, enclosing photographs to back up my complaint.
They have refunded one box, I would have preferred them to be perfect but I have to say I am happy with their very prompt response & compromise.
That was disappointing Illoyd but good IW offered a satisfactory resolution. I have had a similar problem with the l' occitane cherry blossom tsv. Like almost 3/4 of the reviewers the gift box was damaged at all four corners with a tear at the front (like everyone else the outer box wasn't damaged so not a delivery issue but a packing one). I really wanted the box as it was a drawer design. Anyway when opening there was product oozing out of the bubble wrap (turned out to be handwash) - I could see it had seeped into the handcream box which had half disintegrated. The body cream tube had a dent in it. Took photos etc. QVC immediately refunded, said if it comes back in stock can have it at tsv price and I keep what wasn't damaged. Like you, would have preferred perfect but happy with hassle free compromise by customer services.

I bought the shower gels in brown and red/orange boxes. The boxes seemed genuine in regards to the batch codes as did the bottles. I agree the fiery pp appears different - it's one of my favourites. I've compared it with two bottles I already have, one 300 and one 500 and it is much darker - I also have a 30ml and that is considerably lighter than all the others. Wondering if colour change is part of the manufacturing process? I did a test by dipping one finger from each hand in the IW bottle and one I already had and washing under running water - the IW is definitely a very weak fragrance and I could hardly smell on my skin half hour later but the one I already had lingered much longer. I did the same with an Orange and Bergamot - the IW one looked slightly more orange in the bottle - these smelt the same while washing and on the skin afterwards. Hopefully the FPP was just a "duff" or different batch. I hope they are OK as some were for me but half to add to gifts 🤔 Would be good to hear any other opinions - as at least time to choose whether to gift or not ....

Update...... a few hours have now passed and interestingly as the FPP fragrance from the "original" MB has faded it now smells very similar to the IW one. The batch codes on my boxes were May and July 2023 So still well within their shelf life - I am wondering whether it's a question of how they have been stored which has effected their composition somehow 🤔

That is very useful, Mollie. I am pleased to hear it’s probably just the FPP which is sub-standard. At least MB realised and allowed these other discounters to buy them up, rather than try to sell them in their shops (or QVC!)

Just double checked the boxes and all of the tops are not fully screwed on. So if gifting make sure you tighten them.
So sloppy, glad you noticed - maybe if the tops were loose it could explain any reaction to conditions if not airtight 🤔. I've checked and although some of mine (that I hadn't already opened to test) weren't tight they weren't "open" as such. Our purchases do seem like Russian roulette but I'm happy I bought them......

Not necessarily 🤔 because of this molton brown thing I've been looking at the IW forum and discovered the Random Musings etc thread. ...... so many of the posts made me laugh out loud 😂 and I'm not usually a laugh out loud person! I thought surely the shows and presentations can't be that bad so have watched some IW tv - if anything the posts are too kind 😱 it's like watching some "send up" comedy sketch 😵‍💫🫣 If you thought it was for real you might need therapy 🤭

Thank you candycane, I just went to have a look and then on trying to find out who they used as their courier, I noticed the awful Trustpilot reviews when searching. Crikey! 73% of reviews are one star, average is 1.7. All the bad reviews are about Molton Brown's 'non existent' customer service and how they seem to often take payment twice and then the customer has problems getting the money back. It's put me off ordering online from them a bit.

Molton Brown are offering 25% off everything and free delivery from their own website. It is soooooo tempting but I must be good. Well I might buy the mandarin hand wash

Fortunately for my bank balance, 25% doesn’t cut it for me with Molton Brown. I am looking for 40% off at least. With all the stuff I have in store and all the cheap sets even QVC have offered which work(ed) out about £12 a bottle, plus copies I’ve tried and bought for just a few pounds, I really can’t face paying £16.50 for a hand wash or £18.25 for a shower gel (25% off). Yes, the quality of MB will (nearly) always be better than whatever a supermarket is offering, even if it looks the same, but the price difference is eye-watering. That’s just me, though, and I will thoroughly enjoy using up the many bottles of MB I have stashed away so the love affair isn’t over. It’ll take a proper bargain to draw me in, however.

When is that next MB TSV again? ;)

I’ve had 3 or more orders lately, all good delivery and had to contact CS on one occasion & sorted immediately.

It’s probably because people quite rightly expect premium customer service for premium priced products. When you’ve paid MB prices and something has gone wrong, you want it sorted with compensation and bells on. I seem to remember having a small issue with an order in 2020/21, towards the end of Covid times (which is also the last time they had a really excellent sale, as far as I am concerned - I spent a fortune but got loads!). Their Customer Service was really good about that then but maybe they are more hit and miss now?
