Note this is no longer got the "gold" in the product title.

Did I hear chuntley correctly saying she once phoned Q to complain about the way someone prounanced one of the words because she is a champion of the Welsh language. Thought that Welshness persona was dropped when she split from her partner.

You should see her on her days off...

She is currently putting together a special hush hush show which I assume is about Wales. Is there a welsh pie company on Q? If this is part of it then she will have plenty to whinge about putting on weight if she scoffs a load of pies!!

Clogau is a marvel of marketing, isn't it?

The brand ambassadors have eliminated any Welsh accent (if they ever had one!)
The Welsh gold % is carefully glossed over (must be miniscule)
Production is now in China
Most Clogau shops seem to be in international luxury locations
The royal references seem excessive and cloying

It is one of the few shows that I switch off immediately.
The endless harping :mysmilie_13: about Welshness just sticks in my gwddf.

Seems like a prime example of buying into a name/ brand for the sake of it(close to a £1000 for a band ring with a miniscule diamond). The pieces are very pretty and look well made, despite some of the reviews on Q. But the prices.... Pleases give us a break even on the clogau website's own sale page the prices make me gag.

I had always been interested in the gold rings but they were far too expensive. Then I saw them in a shop and was amazed at how insignificant they were in real life, definitely not worth a fraction of the price, and even more so the pieces which seem to be mostly silver and plated finish.

BTW I once worked with a man who was as welsh as they come and he did not have a trace of a welsh accent and he said it depended on what area you came from.

My daughter in law is Welsh and won`t touch Clogau with a bargepole. I once offered to buy her some Clogau earrings for a big birthday and she looked horrified at the prospect. Her wedding ring is a plain, old, bought from a pawn shop Welsh gold band because she wanted a real welsh gold wedding ring. Not one with a "touch" of Welsh gold !
In fact it seemed to me that a real Welsh person doesn`t actually rate Clogau ....

La Huntley on screen now pushing the royal connection saying that Q can dictate /design some of the clogau designs they stock. How authentically welsh. A touch of the emporers new jewellery?

i like clogau just not the prices. they are quite substantial but horribly expensive

Someone has just tweeted in the question how much clogau gold is in each piece? (9%) and, unsurprisingly, they didn't have time to answer, but Catherine DID have time to say, it depends on the piece, the amount will be different, to which the guest agreed. and to give us Clogau's twitter/website address.
This may sound cynical but, due to her evasiveness, sounded like she didn't want to answer, rather passing the buck to Clogau!
Don't think this will surprise anyone!

I saw they were selling a watch today for £400, I've had nicer ones from Avon!

What is so special about Welsh gold? It's still the element "Au". It's like selling "mineral salt" which is just sodium chloride innit.
