Just turned over to QVC. Anne is on but I don’t know what she’s saying cos I can’t take my eyes off her roots! I don’t understand why she doesn’t cover them or at least try to.

I hate my roots - they are the bane of my life - but I can’t stop colouring my hair yet at 58. I saw what long grey roots looked like during the pandemic and I hated it!

First world problem I know but my grey hair makes me less confident and old.

I feel the same as you. I always feel happier after a hair colour . As for Anne, whenever I see her, she has white roots. Maybe it's the TV lights from above that make them stand out. In any case, they look horrible.

Well yes, I hate roots, but maybe she just hasn't had time to get them done before she came to work. I go to work every day with roots showing but no one notices. It's just because Anne's on telly and we're all looking that it's more noticeable.

Never mind Anne's roots, what about the ridiculous brand ambassador who was flogging leftover Christmas tatt with Anne! Head bent over reading from card on her lap, silly quips and giggling throughout. I felt embarrassed for Anne Dawson who was trying her best to get through the show. Who was she?

Here in Belfast I have noticed many times ladies of a certain age, I will say 70+. Who insists in dyeing their hair black, and then it grows out, and they have like 2 inches of pure white roots. The black drains their completion and they look older than they are.

Ann has quite thin hair, so her scalp shows through her parting, making even the slightest hint of grey root look worse. As a retired hairdresser I would recommend a couple of shades of hi lights and low lights mixed in, a bold block colour like that is never a good idea for grey hair.

Personally - and I know it's individual choice - I don't understand why anyone wants to disguise grey hair when I don't think it's even ageing, it's just the natural order of things and looks quite classy on a lot of people. It always amuses me to see in a crowd, the women generally have different colour hair while their male partners' hair is mostly grey.
