Yankee Candle TSV 12/4/19

I had actually never heard of B&BW candles but found on Amazon that they are over £30 for 25-40hours burn. Whaaaat? So I won't be trying them! I prefer YC at £25 for around 110 hours. I am currently burning a Portrait range Sage candle and it is really strong. I am very pleased with it and wish they would return! Mind you I bought all those, and I mean ALL those, in 2016 so still have a way to go in stash terms although I did cut back last year.

I succumbed to that Sunday Brunch trio and decided to crack open the Floral Candy one and absolutely love it - it burned beautifully and filled the flat with the scent of a delicately flowery candy floss, lovely :)

Excellent! Mine is in the stash so I may get it in 2020/21.....

I meant to mention this earlier. Did anyone see the Amazon Tv ad about their Marketplace storefronts recently? They feature a firm called Shearers candles which is a family firm from Scotland. I have never tried them but would look at these first if I wanted some from another brand. They cost around £6-8 for a 40 hour burn. That is more in my price range! I must add one to my wish list so I don't forget the name and have to Google it,like I did just now.

I keep seeing that ad as well, Mazza, and thinking they look familiar. Thanks for reminding me while I am on the computer because I just checked my inventory (spreadsheet to you) and sure enough, I have a small tin I bought a couple of years ago from my local department store (I don't know if they still stock them but I'll check later when I'm in town). I only paid £3.20 - may have been half price at the time. It smelt lovely cold, I remember - well, it must have because I'm rarely tempted by other brands as I mentioned earlier. I'll have to dig it out and light it.

Damn! That's not what I wanted at all! I wanted large jars of the new fragrances which all look pretty fresh to me, or their "brought back for the 50 year anniversary oldies", A Splash of Rain and Lily of the Valley. I may have to splurge on these somewhere....

Mazza, Mazza, Mazza ... let me give you a talking to. Do you really need more candles? Even if you find those oldies (which do sound interesting, admittedly), when will you get around to burning them? (I'm trying to be helpful, honest.) :mysmilie_12:

As for the 12/04 TSV, I find the Village Candle large jars (identical to YC in other respects) great for being dual wick as they burn and throw well. I also like the World Journeys for the same reason, although some fragrances are terribly weak to me. However, I've had problems with those Elevation ones which are dual wick. Even the tiny one would not pool, despite the wicks being well spaced (not too central). In the end, one wick just drowned in the wax immediately around it, leaving a fairly wide collar of wax at the edges. I've lit a large one in the range and am managing it better but the pooling is still not great.

I loved Splash of Rain!!!!

Andi, Andi, Andi.... The answer is, if course, yes I do! :mysmilie_500:

I also like the World Journeys. No problem with pooling on those, ever. I agree some can be a bit weak. I like to burn them if I only have an hour or so.

OK, but don't come on here moaning when you have to order a load more of those big storage bags from Lakeland! :talking:

On the whole, the World Journeys are lovely and I did get a nice set of 6 from Groupon last year, really cheap (ignore my hypocrisy suggesting you shouldn't buy more!). Have you tried the Yankee Elevation ones? I wondered if everyone has had the same bad burn experience as I had. They look nice, though!

I haven't bought the Elevation ones as I think they are quite pricey for the burn time and I also don't particularly like the artwork on the labels. I don't think they are as pretty as YC labels used to be.

Now, great news on the Lakeland bag front. Because of my restricted (by my standards) purchasing last year, I EMPTIED one of the storage bags!!!! So it is all ready for the 2019 collections.I

Actually, no, the labels aren't so nice, are they? I like the shape and lids/stands though.

Well done on the storage. I did empty and chuck a small box the other day myself. I think I have sold and burnt more candles than I have bought the last year or so.

Curses, these look lovely - I've got a Moonlit Blossom melt cup and it's lovely and fresh...so tempted!

Floral, I take it - but heady in any way?

Personally I wouldn't say heady - this is the description according to YC online, but to me it's a soft, fruity floral.

About This Fragrance
A moonlit stroll with rich floral and berry notes takes an enchanting turn with mysterious, warm amber

Fragrance Notes:

Top: Pomegranate, Blackberry
Mid: Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Lavender
Base: Amber, White Musk

Cheers. That sounds like my sort of thing. I tend to like amber (does amber actually have a fragrance??) and musk and hopefully the jasmine is not too much.

Alfresco Afternoon sounds quite nice as well, but I am going to try to resist. As always, I await the price and fingers crossed it’s extortionate to help me along.

These all look wonderful and I want each fragrance...... must hold out for just one housewarmer of each otherwise I could end up buying rather a lot!
