I always wanted to go and see Les Mis when I was a student in London but the ticket prices were way too much for my pocket.
About 10 or 15 years ago my neighbour had an emergency and gave me her tickets and I was thrilled.
By half an hour in I'm whispering to my OH "What are they singing about? What's going on?". Honestly I didn't have a scooby. Couldn't hear the words properly to understand what they were singing (I'm not old and hard of hearing btw!) and my backside was numb from the awfully hard seats up in the Gods, so I gave it another 15 minutes, looked at him and whispered "shall we go?" and snuck out!
We asked in the foyer what time it finished so we could calculate what sort of time we should get home so as not to alert the neighbour and went to the pub!
Such a letdown! And yet the drama series a few years ago was brilliant.
