I had a golly as well, and beautiful black tiny baby doll. I loved them to pieces. As children we were innocent of the connotations in those days, as I think probably most parents were.

I had a Gollywog too and i loved him, lHe had striped trousers ,bow tie and smart jacket.
I miss the days before the pc brigade came along and we could just be kids and enjoy our toys.
my old teddies and dolls live in my mum's loft, every now and then she.mentions that if i love them so much why don't i take them. I revert to a whining child "But mum, I don't have the room" followed by the guilt trip ""You can't get rid of them,they're part of my childhood" This conversation takes place about once every 3 months.
