Update - coated diamonds!

GemsTV use irradiation and HPHT treatment on the "canary" diamonds. Some of their yellow diamonds have also been natural.

He did go into it more, Meesh, but I have the memory of a goldfish considered by other goldfish to have a really crappy memory!!! I remember irradiation being said though....to be honest I was mainly focussed on the 'No we don't supply coated diamonds' bit!!!! Lol!!! D'oh!!! That'll teach me to try and be smart!!!!

No worries PR. The problem is that "heated" is a million light years away from a treatment such as "irradiation"!

It really saddens me that people don't understand treatments. I know I'm an anorak and a treatment bore but to me it's so critical with gemstone buying. Which is why I hardly ever buy from jewellery channels now and stick to natural untreated gemstones direct from reputable lapidarists/dealers!

For me, irradiation and HPwotnot I can handle. I pretty much have to if I want to be the proud owner of any of these stones as my budget is pretty limited!! It just winds me up when people are cloak and dagger about it.

At the end of the day I know that my collection will never include a beautiful natural blue diamond cluster, the like of which I bought from Rocks and I am fine with that. As far as I am concerned I have the best thing that my budget will allow and that is a 'real' gemstone. All I want is for a gem company to understand and realise that I am more than aware of my own budget limitations and to credit me with some level of intelligence by TELLING me what I am buying. Honestly and truthfully. Let me then decide whether this is a treatment I can live with or not.

Just treat me like a person with a brain, not some dumb ass who can't possibly handle the correct informaiton and still make a reasonable decision.

And LifeGem have been and are being investigated left, right and centre. Their claims are nonsence as there isn't enough carbon in one person's ashes to create a diamond.

LifeGem have been very very very very very cagey about the process and I was once privy to a conversation where they were grilled by exceptionally knowledgeable diamond experts who literally tore them apart.

So, if you want a diamond, created from "ashes" allegedly and you don't mind ending up with a few bits of Mrs Jones from next door in your sparkler (or the local mutt who popped his clogs near to LifeGem) then it's a great idea (not).

These people are criminal and are preying on those who are grieving. F***ing disgusting.

Do you think gems are ever going to respond to our emails/concerns? i realy want more information regarding my past purchases!

No I dont think the idea of having ones ashes turned into a man made gem is sick. What I think is sick, is my mum still has my father's ashes in an urn on her welsh dresser, they have been there 2 and a half years now - great! (she lives overseas - and doesnt want to have his ashes strewn, wants to be cremated herself, and wants them both to comeback to england via a courier and get strewn together in some spot in the uk! She did say that she was considering having his ashes made in to a diamond. I dont think its sick, at least if you wanted to be turned into a stone, you would be around forever - and probably look better than a moissanite or gold n ice. I have told my husband i want to be turned into a diamond! I wont be forgotten then!

Anyway, back to original topic. GC I still haven't received any response at all :( so have just resent my email to customer care, (that's a real misnomer if ever I heard one  ). If they still ignore my concerns then I will open a complaint with Trading Standards or the ASA, whichever body is applicable. :pPC:

I'm with you on that one! i send my email on 29th November and was told they would be in touch when they had the information, i emailed again on Monday to ask for an update but still haven't had a responce!

might be worth sending a generic email, (or the info might be on their website?) as they might have published guidelines in which they ought to deal with things. Most places have a published 'charter' and promise to response to emails or queries etc within eg 48 hours??? That info might help if you do end up having to put in a complaint to the ASA or Trading Standards.

At Least thats a positive responce with a time scale, would be nice if they had bothered to reply to me when i requested an update on Monday!
But still we play the waiting game!

Well I did say that I need their response urgently because I am deciding if I need to progress a complaint with the ASA. I suspect GC that they are dragging their heels over all of this because they assume it will all die down and we'll go away, but I won't because there is too much of my hard earned money tied up in these pieces. :pPC:
