I know there are issues with getting stock rising costs and so on. But why oh why do we keep getting the same old stuff repeated over and over. For example The Rolson safe memory foam pillow Opatra (which is often reduced by a huge amount which is concerning) La Marey, Tamsy The measure King, air purifiers. Fans heaters, Gamages (which is always reduced by a huge amount) very qustionable. Gold which is questionable. Always rabbiting on about how we are the best for gold prices. Don't get me started on the bloody non direct price comparisons! Then there is the silver and gold tone jewellery items which are tat. Oh and Japara which is from Thailand however i did some searching and found it on a very well known website. They seem to bring the same stuff back at the same price. Blankets and all the homeware items and clothing etc always seem hugely overpriced to me. Other perfumes seem like cheap tat. The presenters seem to spout out lots of rubbish. So fed up with constantly seeing the buyers to.

I watch very little now as it is more or less a televised jumble sale. I think both Gemporia and TJC are changing their business model in line with QVC. Whatever you think of QVC they they are the original and pretty much the best. TJC and Gemporia have realised that they can’t survive on jewellery sales alone but are filling up their inventory questionable products. Regarding their gold chains, I really can’t fault their quality and price. I had snake chain that I’d had for years, which I broke just before the pandemic and thought I’d just pick one up from a jewellers in the High Street. What a shock I had. A fine trace chain in Goldsmiths 18 inch, was almost £200 and I had to ask for the weight, as none of the chains had the weight displayed. It was less than a gram. I bought a white gold one at 2 grams for £109 from TJC. A quick look on Ernest Jones or Goldsmiths website now and there is not a mention of a gold weight. At least I can see the length, the carat weight and the gram weight on TJC. I’m not a fan of everything they do, but at least you can compare things like this.

Unless I misunderstood, today Stacey said that, due to gold prices, they are going to offer more pieces in silver and stainless steel. I know some shopping channels in the US that do jewellery, well custom jewellery we should call it, in stainless steel, but I don't know how they will pretend that it's not utter tat

Unfortunately it is utter tat. Since they lost swarovski I have completely lost interest

I got a lovely stainless steel necklace with a triangle shaped pendant that had tiny crystals on. It was from a market in the pretty village of Villefranche. The stall had lots of jewellery on but my necklace had been made by the stallholder and it was reduced to about 10 Euros. The season seas ending and she was hoping to sell so as not to have to things stored until the following Spring.

I watched one recent under 10 pounds day and I was shocked. At the time, the presenter was trying to sell a money box. Every time a coin was inserted, the head of a unicorn would raise itself like a slower milder jack in the box. The amusing thing is that one of the buyers was present and he seemed more interested in his laptop than in the tat they were selling. I had the feeling that many viewers were as interested as he was. Or am I wrong? Are you buying much from the 10 pounds day? I am sure there are good bargains to be had amongst all the tat but either one is lucky enough to be at the right time at the right place or you have the watch the entire day.

I’ve never really watched the Under £10 days, to be honest, it’s mostly tat. And I really can’t struggle through any presentation with a Buyer. I end up shouting at the Telly, it’s not good for my blood pressure. I just want them to advertise an hour and stick to it. I usually check the program guide and depending on who is presenting I may watch, but it’s never accurate. How hard can it be to to get these basics right?

You are right, Kit10. What's up with their programme guide? It's never accurate or at least very rarely!

Am I the only one fed up with the Turkisite and Tanzanite jewellery? It seems that they have very little else to show!

Did you see them selling compost? Yes that compost that the nurseries use! I think that it was 'You Gardens' don't quote me but certainly one of the many online only brands that are all Garden Bargains rebadged I believe. Some plants etc too but I didn't linger

I hardly watch TJC these days. I can't stand most of the presenters as all the ones I didn't mind watching have left, to be replaced with ex-bid.tv goons. Then there are the buyers, who either scream over the top of the presenters, or stare down the camera lens like a rabbit caught in headlights leaving the presenter to deal with the items for sale. Finally, there's the items for sale. The £10 day items are laughable, and the rest of the schedule seems to be filled with whatever the buyers can pick up cheap in huge quantities.

Well, I did see the compost! I am not much of a gardener, but my mother is, so I asked her what she thought of the price. She wasn't too impressed. So, besides the oddity of compost in a supposedly jewellery channel, according to my mother the prices are not even that competitive. I avoid buying plants remotely. I made a mistake of buying some plants online (not from TJC) last year as a present for my mother and neither of them thrived. They arrived looking dead and remained that way. As such, I wouldn't have the courage to buy TJC's.

Today they are doing 24 hours of Tanzanite. How can one watch that without getting bored quickly is a mystery to me. I watched a little bit and I couldn't tell one ring from its predecessor! They all look the same to me. Are you enjoying Tanzanite Day?

When they're doing the 2 x presenter shows (the actual presenter and the buyer) it can't just be me who's noticed the look in the actual presenters eyes ... a kind of 'can a hole please swallow me up now!' look :)

I agree with vapidstoat. I can't see what the buyers bring to the party, they seem either bored, distracted or over the top, with the presenter & buyer talking over each other, difficult and annoying to watch, so I don't !
As for the expert guests, they are just as bad often adding little to the presentation. The Opatra lady & Tony Dinaz are the worst, they always seem bored and rude, sometimes both, again for me unwatchable.
Peter Sherlock, just why ?

Sorry I have to disagree. The opatra girl is full of great knowledge, tips and tricks, and for me that has answered many questions which were never getting answered before they started using her more frequently. She also has great skin and is pretty so that helps with the opatra range! I think the boredom part is due to the delay since these people are not in the actual studio, and have to wait turn to speak (I guess speaking over presenter and vice versa doesn’t make for great tv)

I think we have to realise that both TJC and Gemporia are no longer jewellery channels. They have opted to extend their ranges to include beauty, clothing and household goods. It obviously pays or they wouldn’t do it. I don’t think either of them could survive on jewellery sales alone, and they are moving towards the QVC business model.

Fascinating stuff... TJC is now selling a diamond simulant I had never heard of: Strontium Titanate. So now they have strontium titanate, moissanite and Austrian crystal. Has any of you bought TJC's diamond simulants/ substitutes and what do you think of them?

Wow! They sold the Strontium Titanate on silver for 159 pounds! That's an expensive diamond simulant! I know that prices are hiking everywhere, but I bought a 9k gold with an opal from TJC for only slightly more than that just two months ago!

Swarovski is a lovely substitute, but so expensive, now that we can’t purchase it from TJC or QVC. I was in a Swarovski shop in Edinburgh a few weeks ago and the prices were eye watering, for jewellery in base metal overlaid in gold or rhodium. Moisanite is gorgeous, and I’ve bought a few pieces from TJC, and they weren’t that expensive. But you can’t beat Diamonique. I’ve worn a 1carat five stone 14ct gold Diamonique eternity ring for twenty years, along side my diamond engagement ring, and it looks as good today as when it was bought. And everyone assumes it’s real. 😀
