The reviews suggest that it used to last and when QVC bought the brand, they did something to the formulas and they're not as good. Tova Nights, in particular has low ratings and reviews saying it's nowhere near as good as it used to be due to the fragrance fading quickly.
That is what happens when larger companies buy out other perfume brands. They downgrade the ingredients using cheaper versions. It is all about the money.

The bottom line regarding perfume is: does it last? I wonder if Tova's scent lasts. I've got an idea it smells beautiful, but that it might disappear within a short time like other inexpensive fragrances.
Believe me - it really doesn't! I bought a set consisting of Tova signature and one called mind body and soul. The latter wasn't too bad a fragrance, a bit strange but as I say not unpleasant, but it had no staying power. Signature on the other hand, was out and out disgusting and it smelled like fly killer and its staying power was phenomenal. It is one of the most revolting perfumes I've ever smelt. I'm not sure whether it's the actual worst, that's a toss up between that and Prai's "scent of a woman" which was so strong and cloying that it gave me a horrendous headache and a feeling of nausea within seconds of spraying it (Thank god it was only a trial size) I ended up throwing it in my work bag to use as a toilet bowl spray just in case! Other offenders for me headache/nausea are Arden's Red Door and Elizabeth Taylor's diamonds and rubies which reminded my of the smell of the seats in my mates dad's car back in the day - a mixture of leather and stake ciggie smoke. So basically if you like the smell of fly/wasp killer then you'll like the smell of Tova signature!

I think there was uproar at the time because people absolutely loved the old formula then they changed it for cheaper ingredients.
Remember the time Ernie came over with her and she would always mention how much they loved each other. He had five wives in his lifetime.
She would always stay at a top London Hotel not the local travel lodge.
Ohhh and her amazing collection of Jewellery copied by her Diamonique range.

I've experienced perfumes that have that horrible chemical smell as well. I thought Tova was a cut above, but judging by the very low price with the beautiful bottle, more was probably spent on the bottle and the packaging than the contents. The BA certainly gave a very glamorous impression, but some of her remarks were down right ridiculous, e.g., people have stopped her (while she was on her famous actor husband's arm) and asked her what perfume she was wearing and a little girl saying, 'Tova me, mummy!) Claptrap, the lot of it.

Absolutely! That Kathy woman from Prai would have us believe that "scent of a woman" was a "man magnet" (not that I'd actually want that) but it does imply that the smell is irresistible. Then all that rubbish about people stopping you in the street to ask what you're wearing and tbh if it was Tova Signature or Scent of a woman I dare say they'd be asking so they can avoid it. The bottle is the height of elegance, and like you say if they spent more time creating a lovely perfume to go inside it it would be a lot better! Dressing table appeal is one thing, but who's gonna see your dressing table?! It's the smell you carry around with you!

I've heard others compare Signature to fly spray!

Ethel Merman married Ernest Borgnine on June 27, 1964 Separated on August 7. Divorced on October 21. The marriage was a colossal mistake, lasting 38 days. Their time together was spent hurling insults. The chapter in her autobiography titled "My Marriage to Ernest Borgnine" was just a blank page!

Tova was his longest marriage and lasted for the rest of his life. I don't think she even had a suitor, never mind dated after he passed. 💕

My mum was like that after my dad passed away in the 1990’s. She remained single, my sister and I did ask about this, and she said that my dad had put her right off even thinking about sharing her time, and home with another man 🤣🤣

Yes, I bought a Tova set of I think 4 small bottles, or perfume wardrobe as we like to call it on Q, when I think it was a TSV. My goodness me, they were all absolutely horrific on me! Sadly they all seemed to have outstanding staying power 😂. Given how rhapsodic some of the reviews used to be for this range, and I mean people seemed obsessed with Tova perfume, I was simply amazed. It was just horrible and I chucked them all away because I didn’t feel I could lumber anyone else with them.

Was Scent of a Woman the one where we were told the BA and model were in a bar and smelt so wonderful that men were bowled over and sent them drinks? Or am I hallucinating again?

As our friend Dale is always saying : absolutely!

You're right. The Prai woman said such really stupid things, warning us that if we wear her 'stink' we would be accosted by men wherever we were. Maybe she would like that to happen to her, but most of us would hate it.

So that’s what Debbie is doing these days. I haven’t seen her since she was on a cleanse & polish loop with Liz Earle, all plump and dimpled. She’s changed a lot, very sophisticated and confident

Isn't it weird how we are all different. I bought Signature many years ago and loved it. My boss who was the Finance Director thought it was great. He got me to buy one for his wife. Up to that point he had never even heard of shopping on TV.

I have to say I don't know what it is like now, but back then, maybe 20 years ago now, it was lovely. I thought Tova was a very elegant lady, I liked watching her on Q.
