I liked Brucie, except when he'd sing and tap dance. It was painful to watch.

This is true. Strictly started in the UK and of course Bruce was the main host. So the US decided to do their own version of Dancing With The Stars, Bruce expected to be the main host of that version. His nose was really put out of joint when the DWTS hired a US host.

I don't think this was the first time he'd tried to 'crack' America. But I don't think Brucie's style appealed - it happens quite often, I'd say, where actors and entertainers think that because they've done pretty well here they can do the same in the States, but it's a very different audience dynamic. I remember the girl who played a character in EastEnders (think it was the youngest Slater daughter, for those who remember the Slater family); she apparently tried to get work in America. Often it doesn't work out.

Yes, they rebooted The Bionic Woman, and she got the lead, but the show was cancelled after one season. I remember watching, and it wasn't bad, to be honest.

Catherine Zeta Jones, allegedly dated quite a few big producers when she first when to the US and got the parts. Then married Michael Douglas and won an Oscar.

True, his dancing ability wasn't strong, IMO. Brucie was another one who'd been in showbiz since he was a young kid in his teens, and I think they sometimes thought they were showing the youngsters how it's done by virtue of the fact that they'd been around forever. But if America had better (which they had) then why would they bring him over.

Didn't the Italian judge on Strictly, UK move over to Dancing with thr Stars in the U S?

Bruno, yes, and so did Len. They used to fly back and forth to the UK and then back to the US. Len retired from Strictly but still did the US one as the money was massive. Bruno had to stop coming over with the lockdowns and did a video thing then decided it wasn't worth it now he does Britain's Got Talent

I cannot eat grapefruit. My blood pressure tablets say no. I actually like grapefruit and used to eat it.

Once I forgot and thought it was pineapple, I was not allowed to eat. I was offered a piece of fresh pineapple and turned it down. Damn!

Ironically a wooden spoon is less wooden than Ms Daly is and has got more of a personality than her as well.
