Social Media - That was an eyeopener

Help Support ShoppingTelly:

I'm on FB and couldn't find the post either, so it's definitely been deleted - if I remember rightly, the poster who had received 'The Letter' was complaining as her returns were mainly 'fashion' items which she'd been forced to order in more than one size as Q's sizing guide is so hit and miss to say the least. It's like buying from an online high street store and being told you can't shop there any more as you've returned too many items that didn't fit, unheard of!!!!
The poster also when on at length about the presenters (yes, you DBF) imploring us to buy different sizes and colours to try out in the comfort of our own home etc etc.

It's the usual suspects, Debbie and Catherine Huntley are particularly bad at painting a picture of how easy it is to order all the sizes and colours and send back what you don't want / suit / fit. It's so disingenuous, and there is neither a verbal disclaimer from the presenters nor anything flashing up on screen... equally no disclaimer when you order by phone.

Of course, if you only order 2-3 things a year, and return 2 that gives you a very high return rate... what do they do? Compared to someone buying 20-30 things a year and returning 10 the return percentage would be better on the higher spender, but the cost to QVC must be higher... so what exactly triggers an account review and The Letter?

They are not alone in being somewhat .... opaque ... about the pitfalls you could fall into with unseen rules... and actually falling foul of QVC rules is less of a disaster than if you do the same with Amazon (think of Kindles where you can no longer order reading content, or Firesticks, Fire tablets etc)... None of the companies will actually spell out what the return rate threshold is before they consider terminating your account; nor how they define it. There isn't any kind of formal appeals process either.

The result, for me, is that I'm disinclined to order things I'm in anyway uncertain about.

For someone who dislikes Facebook as much as I do, I must say I'm surprised how entertaining I'm finding it to look in on the QVC page the last few days. Today, for example, I've learnt that Julien Macdonald said live on air that Yankee Candles smell disgusting ... and he said "bloody"! Also, it seems QVC have sent Amanda Holden a big hamper which has not pleased a few people who have had nothing despite years of loyal custom (I know that feeling!).

Yes! I seen that he said "oh no not Yankee Candles! they smell disgusting!" he also said that who wants an old terry dressing gown, when you can have one of his bejewelled boxes, and of course Chloe Everton agreed...... of course. :mysmilie_15: I'd only just got in and fell on the couch channel hopping when I came across it, who needs entertainment channels eh when you've got QVC :mysmilie_15:

I now look everyday just for a laugh! I was just about to post about the awful AH, did they ever work out if it was for charity or for Princess Amanda?

Giving Amanda Holden a hamper full of goodies is almost as cringeworthy as someone on a facebook group belonging to Del Boy`s bestie, (the pretend beauty blogger) had nominated her for a National Day of Kindness award for being kind enough to test all her freebies and spend ages reporting back to her minions about them. I kid you not and the pretend beauty blogger was moved to tears so she said. I was moved to tears too, tears of laughter. Facebook sure as hell has a lot to answer for.

Of course the blogger deserves recognition for her hours of slapping on free products, received in their dozens due to special connections at QVC, and the tireless effort she puts into her "impartial critiques" (which means telling us every product is the best thing ever and is to be recommended to all). Give the woman an OBE.

Looks like Q has been doling out their goodies to lots of people - bloggers, Z-list celebrities plus I noted on FB that the Quacker Factory (DREADFUL name for a company) bloke was banging on about the two free Elemis TSVs he was sent (the comments on that post were nauseating)...

...so that's what all the extortionate postage charges are spent on, schmoozing nonentities!

And it's the QVC customers that pay for all those freebies that are given to presenters, presenters friends and family so if I hadn't closed my account three years ago, then I'd most definitely be closing it today, there's no way on this earth I'd pay for the fraud that is Flints bestie Sharon, who is most definitely a fraud along with the "customer panel" (anyone who isn't honest I consider a fraud) If I was a QVC customer that would craw me that, paying more in postage and goods for overheads is bad enough, but to pay more just so QVC can give free products to friends of presenters, absolutely no chance! :mysmilie_19:

I could be wrong but he didn't actually say if he bought it or it was a freebie but I agree the comments were nauseating- pass the bucket.
