Let's imagine we've landed ourself a job in "scam towers", and we've got to come up with some ideas of how to shaft the customers, and get away with it (until of course someone sees right through it and reports it to the ASA.)

Here's my plan...Sell poundshop stuff for more than double the price, and add a hefty postage and phonecall charge....Oh hang on!

Seriously folks...can anyone think of any scams...I'm sure they're running out of ideas, and maybe if we beat them to it, they might not be able to use them 'cause they've already been rumbled!

Get someone to impersonate Bruce Forsyth and do a higher or lower spoof. Punters will be so mesmerized/baffled by what's going on that loads of tat will be shifted...........oh wait....

Peter Simon documentary on the World Wars - Special 2 1/2 hour DVD-R set - could also include a special drive to Normandy then onto the Vatican in the Bid.tv VW Polo which breaks down half way there.... diagnosed with the Cougar Car Reader which leads to the Italian version of the RAC being called out.

Peter Simon's worry angel is then doused in the Holy Water when they reach the pope.

P&P ~ £7.99 with 1% donation to the RAF.

Oh wait! :smirk:

How about Peter Simon tours to Lourdes £999 including b &b and a free worry angel.

Or a Peter SImon cruises to Copenhagen and a visit to the Christin Lars watch factory and an audience with the great man.

Totally mad idea: Why not get an assistant to pick a ball out of a container, with the ball containing a piece of paper with the name of the next item to be sold. The assistant then rushes to the 'warehouse' in order to collect the item and brings it into the studio to be sold.

Oh.

Maybe have yet another 'sale' but with exactly the same items as always and at pretty much the same prices but call it a Flash Outlet?

Oh, there's one starting tomorrow on PD.

(I suppose you could also throw in a few 'free' credits with exceptionally restrictive caveats if you so wished).

What about a reverse auction where all the prices go down. There'll be goods ranging from the highest quality diamond ring going through various big brand watches like Christian Earnshaw, skincare right down to a useless lump of plastic masquerading as an egg poacher. You (the assistant) can pick any item you like to start with, (but don't forget to make sure that you pick the most expensive item first), oh, but to make it look a bit more convincing pretend you've forgotten at least 3 items so'll they'll have to go cheaper that they should have done..oh hang on, then they'll know it isn't random...Oh WTF, They'll be confused enough anyway!!!

I've actually thought of a new one they haven't used yet...THE DREADED MYSTERY PACK! Other companies do it...charge a certain amount and tell the consumer they'll be getting at least 5 items from across their range worth at least 6 times the value of what they're charging. They could be well sneaky here...charge £20 plus extras and send you a shitty egg poacher, a set of placky coathangers, a mattress protector, a flimsy pair of wire earrings and nasty crystal ornament...and by using the start prices they'll have us believe that the contents of this little box o' shite is worth about £150..when in fact they'll still be making a profit. Hey, watch this space!
