The main ingredient is water. I have only bought their TSV once. To me it seems to be coloured water with some added perfume to make it smell nice.

I also bought it only once (TSV) and couldn't use for the smell of alcohol. I did try it but gave it away in the end as it was very heavy to send back. I then tried the concentrated collagen for the face - didn't see any difference.

Contains something nasty

Would any SBC experts recommend this TSV to a first timer.
I fell for the natural/homeopathic hype and bought several sets over the years, but found that I hardly used them. Like someone else said, they seem to be mainly coloured water.
Then a few months ago I read an article in a newspaper about some nasty chemical which causes rashes (and to be fair to SBC it is in a lot of products including baby products), which was in all the SBC bottles I looked at. I had been having itchy skin rashes, saw the doctor, and ditched everything, which was a good half of all my body lotions of many different makes. All the SBC bottles had to go too.

I can't spell it without looking it up but it's mesy....thyoli....zine or similar, I have missed out a few letters. Reading the ingredients on the SBC bottles made me realise there was hardly anything in them but chemicals and colouring. There did not seem to be much in the way of active ingredients, except I think the propolis seemed to have more "goodness"....I am clearly not a scientist so don't take this as factually correct, just a nudge that you might be better off saving your money.

I got the last TSV, the first dip into the SBC ocean......the bottles are big and last ages. I'm using the arnica shower gel, at the moment. It's ok, much nicer shower gels out there if you are willing to pay but it does give a rich lather and smells nice. I don't like propolis smell much and have hardly used the Arnica gel, both of which were used once or twice in August so could be wasted. The collagen gel stinks of alcohol and does really do much for my skin.
I'm glad I've tried it because I was always drawn to the colours and packaging( I'm so shallow)
I wouldn't buy again.
Keep your pennies for the john lewis sale, I got some great value stuff in the sales last year

Glad I read this as I am tempted by SBC but the bright colours always put me off.I have very sensitive skin so usually buy fragrance free. Won't risk it.

Love SBC, i have sensitive skin and never had a problem with using the range, ive seen great results with the Collagen and Propolis especially. I just wish SBC would give us something different as a TSV.

Can't understand why they can't simply colour the bottles instead of making their customers absorb all those dayglo fake colourings into their skin. Beyond the hideous colouring, nearly all of the products are basically water, alcohol and glycerin. Probably costs 5p to make.

I too once bought the TSV that contained the collagen serum and was absolutely flabbergasted that water and alcohol were the top two ingredients. I think alcohol can initially help your skin to absorb things better, as it is thinning, but long term it is very drying. Anyway, threw was no way I was putting that stuff on me so returned. I think I got a return label as I pointed out the alcohol content should have been mentioned, as it is a big no-no for some people.

I must however give a huge thumbs up for the SBC fruit scrub. Got a massive 450 ml size free at the beauty bash, and the tiniest bit is great for leaving hands feeling like silk. It is going for a great price on the Amazon website, I think 6.99 and you can get a scrub and a matching body butter for 9.99 which seems a bargain.

So glad am not the only one who didn't get on with SBC esp the gels... I haven't ever bought a tsv because they are such huge bottles etc but about a year ago I bought a smaller which included collagen gel and aloe gel and lavender bath soak. Give that away but it was apparently poor. The collagen gel i used but it was so drying (again all the alcohol) and mega sticky! But the aloe gel was the opposite of soothing. I often use my real aloe plant gel on burns etc so decided to use the SBC one after waxing and depilating and it caused a dramatic and painful rash and reaction. My legs were on fire! Awful...such a shame as it all really appealed in theory and I wish they worked. Makes me smile bc Ali Young has spoken about alcohol being a no no for skin etc but raves about 'natural' SBC (and ignored my question when I tweeted her about alcohol in the gels...!)

However i really rate their face shammies highly and I also bought the collagen 3-in-1 cleanser (not the 3 in 1 cleanser toner). I got it cheaply from beautynaturals.co.uk on offer and not sure I'd buy at qvc price but I loved it...

Not tried collagen serum or day/night cream and would be interested to. Anyone recommend?!

I like the collagen gel for me and use it as a quick body lotion and on my face underneath my usual moisturiser. I find it tightening but not drying. I also use Arnica for me and the kids, and propolis when I get break outs and it's also got natural antibacterial properties.

I used the collogen serum when in was in a TSV. The serum is fine, a good buy but despite the larger size it does not last very long and unfortunately the design of the bottle and pump means it is impossible to get the last inch of product out. For this reason I would not repurchase. I am now using the Judith Williams serum supersize from the last TSV and it is absolutely brilliant.

The collogen day and night cream -also in the same former TSV is also a nice product. I have sensitive skin and use it without any problems. However my skin is on the dry side so I tend to use this in the summer months as it's quite light and I prefer a richer cream in the winter months. I can reccommend this cream :) Happy Christmas!

I use the collagen and propolis gels daily. The collagen under my daytime moisturiser and the propolis under AD Synergy oil at night and have never had any problems with them at all. I really like them and my skin is sensitive but I`ve suffered no adverse reactions to them, quite the opposite. My OH uses the arnica gel on his knees and says it helps.
I`ve used the 3 in 1 cleanser and it`s good but I wouldn`t rave over it. I`ve never used any of their other skin care, the cleanser came with a tsv I bought ages ago. The shower gels/creams are ok too but once again nothing to rave over. As for having such a lot of water in their products, well 99.9% of skin or bodycare items have water or aqua as it`s main ingredient. I think the alcohol in SBC is a vegetable derivative, but like all things, SBC does for some but not for others, much the same as WEN, LE and lots of other brands

Alcohol is usually a vegetable derivative (even the bio-fuel you run cars on). It doesn't make it good for the skin. SBC use it to stop their largely water formulas from going rancid. The water and glycerin provide the comfort on the skin. I think the rest of the "active" ingredients are simply working on the placebo effect: tiny amounts included and then the sales patter convinces us they will work.

When it is possible to buy tubes of 99.9% organic Aloe at (expensive) Holland & Barrett for much less than the price of SBC's brightly coloured, water-down, alcoholed-up, version, someone has to be having a laugh.

Ive bought the 99.9% Aloe in the past from HB and hated it, left my skin so dry and tight, so i returned to the one from SBC and love it.

Different strokes for different folks, Autumn :) It is the real deal so I tend to mix it with a little water on application so it's not quite as viscous.

I'm using arnica on my upper leg pain that is pretty bad at the mo and it works better than any over the counter pain killer's, I love SBC's arnica gel. I don't get any benefits from propolis but always swear by arnica it is certainly isn't placebo effect for me. Pain is pain and in the right situation arnica gel works.
