Ruth Langford TSV 24/08/24
That's exactly me!! Most of Ruth's customers won't be tall slim girls in their twenties that have waists and look good with a belt.Is it one where the belt is tied in a knot ? Because most women can't "do" coat belts, they look like a bag of sh.... sugar tied up in the middle.
She certainly knew what she was doing! But everything I see is bog standard ( yawn) and the prices ?just rediculous .She is talking as though she was a long established and respected design/ fashion manufacturing specialist, pointing out the ‘branding’.Is that HER name/ initials? The Trench looks OK but you are scratching the bottom of the barrel when you point out matching buttons and stitching on a tie belt, let us not forget the chain handing loop! Looking a Flinty having to wear it open as there is no way it will fasten.Has this woman taken over QVC? it certainly seems like it.
I'm 5ft 10ins, size 14 (M&S) and I know the trench jacket would look horrible on me. The tie belt is a way to cut corners and make this garment cheaper to produce. The epullets (SP?) hang down the sleeves. They shouldn't do this. Where does Ruth get the idea that she is 'an army girl'? She said this when describing the green jacket. Maybe her father was in the army, but she was a dependent. Not for me, I look ridiculous in them. I always think they are for tall people.

The reason the epaulets hang down the sleeves, is that this coat has raglan sleeves not normal set in sleeves. A raglan sleeve doesn’t have a shoulder seam where the sleeve is joined to the armhole. A raglan sleeve is one continuous piece of fabric from the neck all the way down the arm. So she said she had designed the coat to have raglan sleeves as a “special design feature”. But as you rightly say, trench coats have epaulets across the shoulder seam, but if there isn’t a shoulder seam because it’s been designed with raglan sleeves, then the epaulet ends up going down the arm and looks ridiculous .I'm 5ft 10ins, size 14 (M&S) and I know the trench jacket would look horrible on me.
